Here's a pretty fascinating addendum: the Americans who were flown to Atlanta were treated with a "secret" experimental serum that helped them recover. If pharma companies can refrain from being obstructionist dickholes, this could be incredibly promising to people in West Africa and other parts of the world at risk for such an outbreak in the future.

Still doesn't really do much right now.

"As a paranoid hypochondriac who read The Hot Zone during study hall in sixth grade and was so disgusted by the part about the guy vomiting partially coagulated blood all over an airplane that I almost threw up on my crush, Craig [...]"

ever since this outbreak business started, i've been telling everyone how The Hot Zone was assigned reading in my 6th grade science class and i completely lost my shit and cried a lot and felt lightheaded and like i was probably dying for 4-6 weeks after. are you me? substitute Justin for Craig and i think you're me.

The Hot Zone and the movie Outbreak, which both came out around the same time (I was probably in 6th grade or so), gave me nightmares for YEARS.

Freaking out about Ebola in the U.S. while antibiotic resistant superbugs rampage in our hospitals is like fearing Freddy Kruger will ring the doorbell while Jeffrey Dahmer sits at your dining room table.

Oh, yes, I feel much better now and am not at all paranoid about the guy in the cubicle next to me who seems to have had a sinus infection for the past three years.

      Thanks for that. /sarcasm

I'm flying from Houston to Finland tomorrow. Should I wear a mask on the plane? AM I GOING TO CATCH EBOLA ON MY VACATION?

Reindeer Ebola! Even more deadly. Also bring you winter hoody and a scarf. Finland is fuck-all cold even in summer.
