tips@gawker.com was enough... no one is going to leak through comments because chances are you don't read them anyway. I find it most annoying that it's difficult to reach specific writers that I know would be interested in a certain story given their history.

That link just went right back to the article... intention?

Yes I suspect you all do... but there's no directory that I have found. Not just gawker.. all over. I got ahold of Jesus Diaz via twitter the other day. Fine but, it's just hard to track you guys down in a pinch. I guess that could be by design.

I see at least one post a day asking for tips and leaks. You're better than this Gawker. Like I tell my slutty friend when we go out, let them come to you on their own accord.

Ps. She never listens. Be better than my slutty friend.

I can promise you, it’s not “at least one post per day.” It’s like, a very short post once or twice a week.

And we’re not better than this! I think we’ve always been very open about wanting secrets.

If we leave a voicemail, is the voicemail eventually deleted? Do we have to leave call back info? Yes. I have dirt.

The voicemail number is a Google Voice number, so even if we deleted a particular voicemail message we would not be able to ensure that it was completely deleted—and thus protected from a subpoena—from Google’s own servers. So it would be best to a) mask your number by dialing *67, b) use a prepaid cell phone paid for in cash, and c) perhaps use voice-altering software. Of course we can also make sure that the voicemail is deleted on our end as well.

All of that said, yes, you should leave call-back info if you think we’ll need to follow up on any dirt you have.

As an expert in this area I have to include two more missed points:

    1) NEVER EVER open the "anonymous" email account again at any place that can be traced to you. Better yet, send updates with new accounts each time. If the reporter has a question direct them to post their questions on pastebin or some public page anyone can assess. I have tools that can find your location even if you don't email me your metadata or you are using TOR/proxies.

    2) Don't read or google search ANY thing relating to your tip, especially don't goto Gawker, or the specific author's profile page after you send them your tip. I catch most of my leakers after the leak goes viral. Its much easier to apply stats to the network traffic to determine who is freaking out the most before/after the tip goes public.

If you want more tips message me directly.

Who would want to leak something to a Gawker Media site? Is this for "leaks" of bs product/celebrity stuff?

If you have anything of value to leak, please leak it to an actual news site, not a blog.

Plenty of our leaks involve information that was leaked to “actual news sites” but which wasn’t acted upon due to institutional blindness (usually) or cowardice (sometimes).

I don't have leak so much as a conspiracy theory. Tom Schweich, the Republican gubernatorial candidate for Missouri's suicide is VERY fishy. He had press conferences for later that day concerning other Republicans, he had threatened to expose corruption in the capital the way he had the rest of the state claiming half the capital to be run by "mercenaries" his words. He compared the politicians to Afghan warlords. He had no scandals, one lame attack ad and was pretty much GUARANTEED easy election. He received ONE phone call, and blew his brains out that hour. This looks like blackmail. No 55 year old man who graduated Harvard and Yale is so offended at a radio add calling him "Barney Fife" that he kills himself. He was going to expose something. Please keep looking.

He was the state Auditor. He knew where all the money was flowing and where all the government contracts were going and who was embezzling what and buying whom. Names and specifics? Died with him.
