    What's the difference between gawker lifting a paragraph from another source and swapping a few words for quirky ones and someone lifting it word for word? Does it have to do with giving credit? I'd think if that was the case, anytime you pull content from somewhere else you should give credit right away, at the beginning of your post, maybe where you put the link to your profile, rather than a few words massed between a bunch of other shit at the bottom of an article. The irony being this post is pretty much comprised of quotes.

    The whole thing is shocking. Not citing sources, stealing words from wikipedia and Yahoo Answers? That shit would make you fail a junior year high school English class. That he got away with it for such a long time is unbelievable, and a major failure by the Buzzfeed editorial team.

    JK, other Gawker writers-what would happen if a Gawker person got caught plagiarizing like this?

      That is the reason anyone writing for Jalopnik, Gawker, I09 (We will shorten that to Kinja) makes so many bad spelling, punctuation, grammatical errors........hide from the man me thinks. :) Except Torch, we all love Torch, Torch forever! :)

    Why do people, in the age of the internet, still plagiarize? It's too risky.

    Back in my day, you could plagiarize an entire 5th grade book report and have a very good chance of getting away with it. Long gone are those days.

      you know, when a student whose papers tend to read "I like stuff and things" occasionally have an unquoted paragraph that reads like "verily, I say unto thee: my fondness for things is only surpassed by my love for stuff." obvs cut/paste stuff.
