Actually, not really. People here tend to be very sensitive (or careful) about criticizing BuzzFeed, either because they fear looking like sore losers in terms of traffic competition, or because they have friends who work there and don’t want to offend too much.

Man, that's classic Gawker right there: afraid to criticize other sites.

Johnson slightly reworded various sentences to make them his own.

Anyone who has read Yahoo Answers knows that it takes a slight rewarding at the bare minimum to make that shit readable.

The best thing to come out of Yahoo Answers has to be "How is babby formed" which, come to think of it, wouldn't be out of place in a Buzzfeed listicle.

“How is babby formed” is perfectly grammatical.

It appears that BuzzFeed is not reprimanding or sanctioning Johnson in any way.

It’s the Ben Smith quote, though, that tears a hole in reality.

Wait, is Yahoo! Answers the site where people vote on what the "best" answer is (not necessarily the "right" answer, I always thought) or is that some other bizarre Interweb alternate reality?

So this guy's a lazy writer, I get it. But as a writer (who doesn't copy/paste and doesn't really have any reason to) I'm compelled to say I think we've lost track of what plagiarism laws were intended for. Lifting of a single factual sentence about history is a hard plagiarism sell for me. Not crediting the source? That's lazy, sure. Immoral? Maybe. But I guess I just don't see the creative infringement in lifting a well-worded factual sentence about history. Am I alone?

If you're reading BuzzFeed for credible news or history, you should stop internet usage immediately. It's really only good for pop-culture stuff.

do you actually rely on gawker for news and history? 'cause is mostly promotion of viral content. it's shock-value news usually.
