Because actual reporting requires hard work, writing ability and journalistic ethics.

Even if we cross ethics off the list...you still have to deal with the hard work and ability part. You're just a bunch of typists. Weinstein is the closest you guys have to an actual journalist on staff.

Anyone know what happened to New York Times heir A.G. Sulzberger’s “girlfriend”? (New York media has been wondering for awhile!)

I have a very serious tip about how to make $5000 a day from home.

I don't trust it if it's just coming from you personally. Can your roommate's cousin's hairdresser's baby daddy corroborate your claims?

Who's the sucker that has to listen to the Gawker voicemail? I'm sure that's gotta be a real treat.

TECHNICALLY it’s a Google Voice number, so we’re all emailed the (usually awful) automatic transcription.

I'm pretty sure I saw Ham No swipe a Kit Kat at a Duane Reade in midtown but my cellphone battery crapped out , dammit!

If I don't block my number, will Gawker call me back? And then maybe we will have those long, late night conversations where half the time we aren't talking at all, just listening to each other breathe and we have to say something every once in a while to make sure that neither of us fell asleep on the phone. And we'll text each other when something funny happens, or when something fantastic happens, because we'll be so close that we just know that our joy will be shared. And we'll make friendship bracelets, and we'll cut our thumbs with an old razor and press them together and be blood sisters forevermore, and we'll talk about our dreams and our fears and our crushes and favourite foods and the things our moms do that make us angry.

        oh, I tries. I tries.

But on the other hand, it's rather hard for anyone to see if it is good content if it doesn't show up.

i never understood this site to be honest. i mean in terms of UX/UI. sending the site a tip should be very stupid obvious especially for a news outlet and site that could benefit from outside tipsters. As simple as adding a link under the G before follow us.

It should be noted that *you* may not be logging IP addresses, but if someone giving a tip to Gawker is the only person from her organization visiting your site, it can be fairly easy for said organization to find the whistleblower.

I don't buy that they don't log IP addresses. They definitely track, though. If I log out of my burner, the next I visit the site, I get a "Welcome Back!" message.

We don't log burner IP addresses. Nothing relating to you or your identity is recorded or kept on our servers.

What about gay crushes on Sam Biddle? Something so not romantic about tips lines and burner accounts. Sigh. Swoon.
