That passage is way too descriptive for me to believe it is anything other than a description of how she currently lives.

Even the children showing up on her lawn each day. I imagine 10 kids standing around, fearful. "A witch lives in that house." She throws open the curtains, with a look of disdain on her face, and they all take off running in different directions, screaming. But new kids return daily, to see the 'Legend of the Noon Witch' with their own eyes.

And then we dare each other to ring the bell and run. But the bell doesn't work so I stand there - terrified - until I get the nerve to reach up and barely grasp the Gorgon-shaped door knocker. I give it a resounding rap and scamper back to my mightily impressed friends.

Kickstarter for hiring child actors to stand mutely on Peggy's driveway, staring at her without affect as she totters to her BMW in the morning.

Kickstarter to hire the actual illegal alien kids themselves to stand mutely on Peggy's driveway. That way, they can get green cards.

I imagine this said in the voice of Lucille Bluth. Followed by an awkward wink.

Frankly, I am no longer able to discern any difference between Peggy Noonan and Lucile Bluth/Malory Archer.

Oh, Dame Peggy. It's been far too long.

Hamilton, I find your posts obnoxious, your politics repugnant, and your conclusions specious, but I fucking savor every word you write about Peggy goddamned Noonan.

She sees blank and traumatized children huddling, and makes it about HER fear. Of them needing something, for christ's sweet sake.

      I hate her so much.

The worst part is how the specter of needy children prompts an apparently terrified reaction instead of "Oh, look, there are children in need, what can we do to help them?"

Also, according to Peggy, Washington's leaders "just sort of stand in clusters and say things."

Peggy wishes they wouldn't just sort of stand in clusters and say things. Why do Washington's leaders do that?

Children. Coming. Not sexually, but geographically, coming from far away, to here

LMAO. I really prefer HamNo's Noonan to Noonan's Noonan.

The penultimate paragraph sounds as if it should be read by Elizabeth Taylor in her "Suddenly Last Summer" character.

Noonan as channeled by HamNo is definitely from a Tennessee Williams script. I was thinking Blanche Dubois in Glass Menagerie.
