Has anyone ever even met an aggressive Weimaraner? They always seem like the chillest dogs.

Had one when I was a kid. Dog was afraid of its own shadow.

I've certainly met hyper ones before, but there's a whole world of difference between hyper and aggressive.

Get ready to see more stories like this with the rise of open carry and "stand your ground" laws—with the role of the officer being played by any trigger-happy paranoiac and the role of the Weimaraner played by anyone who makes them feel "threatened." Oh, yes, also imagine how many Weimaraners would be killed if they were always shown in the media as dangerous, criminal, and generally negative contributors to society—-and hoodie wearers.

What the fuck are you talking about? Civilians carrying aren't indulging themselves in an orgy of dog killing like our badge-wielding betters. Your badly disguised agenda is showing.

You REALLY see no correlation between the sociopathic paranoia driving Stand Your Ground , and the increased militarization and trigger-happy nature of police officers?

Here's how Norwegian cops handled a drunk, angry and even threatening person. Here's how all cops should handle citizens. These two would never enter someone's yard and kill their dog:

The cops are laughing at him! Here that guy would have had his face smashed into the sidewalk and his arms wrenched behind his back.

I'm not sure if the phrase has a technical meaning/is actually what goes on police reports, but surely the fact that an officer "feels threatened" isn't considered sufficient justification for lethal action, against animal or (homeless) person? Surely periodic threat comes with the job when you're a law enforcement officer?

Killer Cop: "The dog suddenly reached for its waistband! Oh, wait, that doesn't make sense. Uh, wait a minute, uh . . . I felt threatened! Yeah, that's the ticket."

The officer should be dismissed. Any officer who panics and (presumably unprovoked) shoots a dog after entering someone's yard is a larger accident waiting to a happen.

No idea, but good for Kendall. To me that felt like an effort on the cop's part to intimidate him into calming down, as if this was going to turn into a case against Kendall's aggression. That guy's got his head on straight, which is more than I could say for myself if someone killed my dog.

Probably so they could cross-check his ID and run him for outstanding warrants.

Overly aggressive and militaristic cops are the single greatest threat to the United States. Look at the video of the NFL player on Deadspin from yesterday. We're becoming a police state.

I'm sorry- but please keep it in perspective. Events like this are inexcusable, and this guy should probably go to jail- but you think that police abuses are getting WORSE?

I live in New York- We have Stop and Frisk, which totally unconstitutional, discriminatory, and an affront to human decency. But it's NOTHING compared to the shit that cops used to get away with in the 70's through the 90's in this city. Men of color would have taken stop and frisk over the bullshit back then any day. There's a way higher likelihood of a cop getting disciplined today- back then it was all behind the blue line.

Police behavior isn't getting worse, we just hear about abuses more. And that's a good thing.

      1) Dress cop in Wilfred costume

      2) Shoot cop in the fenced-in backyard area

      3) Drag lifeless body behind a Peterbilt tractor trailer

      4) Repeat with each member if SCOTUS
