Honestly, what in the hell is the libertarian deal with paper money? I generally don't unearth William Jennings Bryan for my economic advice.

Because, paper money is a tool of THE MAN. Economics is a form of black magic that they can't understand and is created by voodoo economists nobody understands. They want to bring back bartering.

Isn't that an argument against silver currency? Deflation would be absurd. People would horde their money and not spend it. People would clip from the money to save slivers of silver and debase the currency.

    ETA: Deflation not inflation.

Not to mention that there isn't enough gold and silver in the world to back all of the money we have currently, gold/silver currency favors specific countries over others that carry large quantities of it, and gold/silver money favors the rich because it's hella expensive to purchase silver these days.

The guy did his job well. He's an ignorant pundit pandering to ignorant pundits. I don't see any problem with that at all. And people who defer directly to the constitution in arguments are usually kind of idiots. It was written hundreds of years ago in a far different scope, Don't use it as the singular answer to garbage problems.

Even more embarrassing is that he cited the Declaration of Independence to support states rights.

Honey, that document is only a declaration of war, it does not grant states any rights AT ALL.

Editing because I know I'll get shit from L1 students if I don't clarify: You know this fool is talking about STATES RIGHTS like states rights trump human rights.

I can't get over the fact that these idiots ousted the House Majority leader, for a bigger nutcase. Good luck getting federal dollars to you hick district now. I guess that's what they think they want. Fewer federal dollars. Cantor just had too much power and these hicks want to have less say in the outcomes of Federal legislation.

I'd bet anything that half of the dopes that voted for Brat think that he will now be the Majority Leader. These dumbfucks don't have any idea how The Gubmint actually works.

Virginia is an OPEN primary. I will put money down right now that Brat cleaned up like crazy among Democrats. Both parties do this shit all the time. The thing is Cantor got caught with his pants down. Hell even the local Dem party right now is surprised it worked.

I love the comparison of money in 1966 versus money today. I'm absolutely positive that doesn't adjust for inflation, and it doesn't take into account that backing your money with metal is absolutely fucking ridiculous because there isn't enough gold/silver in the world to back money and the gold standard pretty much caused the Great Depression.

The whole argument is an illustration of inflation, so I think it's disingenuous for you to suggest inflation is not accounted for.

Not so fast! I kinda like the balance we have now. NoVA keeps the riff-raff from going too far right, and they keep us from going too far left. I wish the balance were the result of some sort of adult discussion and compromise as opposed to hyper-partisan brinksmanship and stubborn assery, but, y'know.

I went to college with him. He was a pretty big joker, which is how I see a lot of the stuff from his facebook that's come up. In person he was always a nice, thoughtful guy. Although he did go nuts when the Ravens won the Super Bowl. I don't think he took his Ravens gear off for over a month.
