Ever notice how a guidance counselor never tells a student they should become a guidance counselor?

Now we understand why (also the scene from Clerks).

I have to wonder what mistakes a person has to make in their life to end up as a guidance counselor.

My mother switched to being a guidance counselor to get out of the social worker for custody battles game. Also from Florida. Only mildly drunk all the time.

Okay, the Twitter consensus—and I am not endorsing this view, merely reporting it—is that middle-school guidance counseling and heavy drinking go pretty much hand-in-glove.

On the plus side, pregnancy tests came back negative for the spawn of Satan.

She got it cut at Vidal Sassoon. Don't you like it, Guy?

      Devilish!

p.s. am I the only one OLD enough around here to find it the height of hilarity that Quinn Cummings seems to be suggesting that some children are obnoxious enough to inspire daytime drinking? Because I blame her almost entirely for the trend of "sassy" child-star characters in 1970s era television...and beyond. Way, way beyond. Her and "Cousin Oliver" from the Brady Bunch. GO TO YOUR ROOM, YOU STOPPED BEING CUTE AS SOON AS YOU STARTED TALKING!

      Yeah, I'm a horrible person.

In addition to the irony of her actions and position, I love the symmetry of somebody who is literally specializing in guidance not being able to stay in a lane.

Be a normal person and drink during your breaks. That's what I did at my last job.

Intoxicated is probably the preferred state for a middle school guidance counselor.

poor thing. I really feel bad for her. I used to work at a liquor store and the moment we'd open, you'd have the functioning alcoholics come in for their little pints of usually the worst kind of gin or vodka. Sad. Always broke my heart.
