China also wanted to rebuild Paris and many many other unhinged construction ideas. Most of China's million dollar ghost cities exist because China calculates its GDP based on infrastructure projects currently being undertaken, unlike most countries that calculate based on infrastructure that was completed during that fiscal year. There's a good brief investigative report on the subject here

    http://documentary.net/chinas-ghost-c…

I would hazard to bet that China lacks the actual ambition to complete a project of that scale, but may want to take advantage of the financial gain of its initial pursuit.

I have a feeling that Mike Holmes might have made that proposal to HGTV a couple times under various titles

Building a super high speed vacuum-tube train across the bottom of the Pacific that could reach Mach 30 - that would be something, and it's something that will probably be built someday far in the future.

But that's not what this is. And 8000 miles at 200mph is 40 hours from end to end, with no stops. What would be the point of that?

Generally, I'm not a superstitious person but shouldn't we be a little concerned about Neptune's reaction to us infringing on his territory?

That's an exciting idea but any future projects humanity has at this point should probably take a backseat to saving the oceans themselves. We get 80 percent of our oxygen from the ocean and with dead zones spreading and wildlife dying off what good would a train be if we can't breathe or find food from the oceans?

This is Bland Anchor with CNN news. This just in:

We still do not have word of the missing underwater train that went missing as the tunnel it was in collapsed; filling with water. It was somewhere in the middle of China and Alaska.

Let's go to our panel, where our leading pundit debates if aliens took the train.

"Thanks, Tom. If you've been keeping up with our developing story, I have dropped a 1 to 100 scale replica of a train into the bathtub. Between the soap bubbles and the floating rubber duckies, I have yet to find it. Viewers at home can follow our updates on Twitter. Back to you, Tom."
