Whoa. Where is Main St. in Philadelphia??? Manayunk? IIRC most of the area around the Schuykill in Philly proper is elevated.

Yeah I think that's the Main Street they are referring to, but like you I thought that was a bit higher up. Though since living in NJ I have learned that even the elevated areas can get super flooded with intense rainfall.

FUCK. My biggest fear is sinkholes. I would sell my house and move immediately if I lived within 10 miles of this fuckin thing

Of COURSE Jersey over here was trying to drive through the flood.

[Yes, I realize they are parked. And I am a Jersey native. Lighten up]

There's a car from California just out of the shot after the NJ car. On the news this morning, the weather lady on scene spoke to the poor girl who owns the car. She said she just moved to Philly this past week and was so excited to find a parking spot on Main Street….womp womp.

Man, you've got to be desperate as hell to move from anywhere in California to Philly... and I say that with every ounce of love that I have for Philly.

Good news is that if water pushed this car forward, it will be towed immediately.

I wasn't there, so maybe I shouldn't judge the people in that photo. Still, I don't think I'd have tried to drive down that street.

Despite the no parking signs, I'm pretty sure these cars are parked.

Gosh, I wasn't even thinking about the no parking signs, I was focused on the fact that the street is underwater. If you combine those two factors, now I'm certain I wouldn't have parked there, and I definitely wouldn't have left my lights on. (How come nobody asks for my advice in these situations, I'd know exactly what to do!)

It normally takes me 45 Minutes to drive home from work. Yesterday it took me 3 hours. After sitting idle for over an hour, the police had everybody do a U-Turn on the expressway and go back to the nearest entrance ramp to get off.

Can't wait for Dayna's write up of this later about all the flooding in the Midwest.

I'm sure all those rich white folks in Manayunk have enough supplies and kayaks from REI to last them through the weekend.
