As a gay Alabamian, this news delights me more than I can express. It's nice to know that no matter how hard the bigots try to inflict their narrow views on the rest of the world, the good guys still find a way to light up the darkness.

Kudos to these good folks and here's hoping they get a massive influx of business as a result.

"...light up the darkness"? What do you use to define how light is judged from darkness though? Many of those same 'bigots' would say the same about you.

I live here, and I have to say that I'm constantly surprised by the disconnect between the politicians and a large part of the public. I mean, we have the uber-conservative that don't religiously agree with homosexuality, but I think very few would be okay with outright discrimination. Many of the people here are Christians in the truest sense of the word. It's just Governor Phil Bryant and others of his ilk that like to translate Christianity into hate. (I am not a Christian btw.)

I do think it's important to remember that, just like at the national level, laws don't necessarily reflect widespread public sentiment so much as the wishes of smaller-than-you'd-think but very well organized groups.

This is exactly why the Republican party makes no sense. You cannot be the religious conservative, values first party AND the pro-business free market money first party at the same time.

This is why many in the Republican party vote against their own best interests. They have no idea that these values are inconsistent.

Seriously. Oh, you want small government that is laissez-faire about the economy and individual rights, but you also want to police the vaginas of every woman in America? You're anti-abortion but don't want to fund pre-school, schools, etc? Morons!

I can't understand why businesses will refuse to sell good to gay couples. Gay money is the same as straight money and if you don't take it someone else will.

This may be a good time to advertise my services as a wedding singer. Gay marriage is legal in DC and Maryland, and what a coincidence, that's where I'm located!
