Thanks! Updated the post. That is really a hell of a branch, too.

They are missing a great opportunity to get people interested in wild life.

I would much prefer to see osprey chicks than bridge traffic. You kill all their fish and poison the waters, how about you show the birds some love , maryland?

Perhaps they can still use it to promote official osprey or raptor live cams? There are some great ones out there. Like this one.

Look. As a life-long Marylander, who has traversed the bridge countless times, I say leave the birds be. Let them build their nest. We know the bridge is going to be a clusterfuck. And I don't know anyone who checks out the cameras to determine whether it's a good time to go to the Eastern shore or not.

Why? Because, in the blink of an eye, a clear, happy trip to the toll booths to cross the bridge can easy turn into a 4mile back up stretching to Annapolis or further west. The camera is, frankly, pretty useless. Let the birds have some fun biting at the thing and let us have fun with watching the birds nest and bringing up the next generation.

I have never once checked a traffic cam feed prior to going over the bridge. Traffic and weather on the 8s is good enough for most bridge travelers. #OSPREY2014

Oh god. Not WTOP. Thanks for putting the WTOP call signs in my head for the rest of the day. It would be bearable news outlet if they weren't reminding you every 10 seconds that it's WTOP. In their WTOP high tech, glass-enclosed nerve center. WTOP time 8:08. Weather and traffic together. WTOP. WTOP. WTOP. How anyone can stand them saying WTOP repeatedly like some kind of lunatic rocking in a corner, is beyond me.

Really, how hard would it be to move the camera?

Some bureaucrat very badly needs to win a pissing contest with a bird. Never surrender!

You mean that camera that's attached to an 80 foot pole in the middle of a highway? You're asking how hard it would be to move that?

They shouldn't have let this footage into the light of day. As far as the public are concerned, who's going to win the PR war; an awesome bird of prey with anti-authoritarian tendencies and a persistent fuck-you attitude, or a traffic camera?

Once they lay an egg in that nest, it can't legally be moved. I'd be willing to bet there's an intern at MTDA whose sole job is to monitor this camera for the first sign of sticks.

Here's an idea: move the camera and allow them to nest there.
