I suddenly understand all those dudes always chiming in to reassure women that chubby ladies or little breasts or whatever also give them boners. Because my first reaction is to say, "But I like skinny guys!" I guess I prefer men to be sort of lean and noncut, which I didn't know I prefered. Because all these pictures do nothing for me. It's like looking at life-sized action figures. Boring. And even though it is sort of contradictory, I think I preferred Chris Pratt when he was all cuddly looking.

I feel the exact same way. Lean, tall, and lanky for me. Big biceps and perfect abs aren't really my thing. It just bums me out that we, as a society, promote such narrow versions of attractiveness to both men and women.

Yes, I don't want a dude who looks like a piece of beef jerky and makes me self conscious for not having a BMI of 5%. I will say though, I want to bang ripped Chris Pratt like a screen door. He gives me feels that chubby Andy Dwyer never did.

Men: Now us men can feel insecure too! Score one for the patriarchy!

Women: Yeah, bitches! Welcome to the party.

Men: Uhh, we were being sarcastic ...

Women: Look, motherfuckers. We've been dealing with this shit, like, forever. We're too tired to be sarcastic. We have no pity left. Now push-ups and crunches and toes to bars and shit! Double time, tubby!

Men: But feelings and patriarchy and suppression and now that it affects us it matters.

Women: Oh, fuck you bros. Fuck you right in the ear.

I would totally go for Rogen, fyi. Not sure why his name's become pop culture shorthand for "generic unappealing white dude." I've had a little crush on him since Freaks and Geeks.

Fetishizing men for strength is also absurd and archaic though. I get what you're saying for some adult men (even though I don't buy the acceptability of double standards), but this stuff is affecting kids. You know, those little boys who we are hoping grow up into men who respect women and themselves, who have realistic standards, and believe in equality? By holding up these men as an ideal, we're setting them back. How are they supposed to catch up with where we want them to be if their whole lives they are told that women are attracted to strong, burly, manly men? Things like this don't exist in a vacuum of adult ideas.

Also, sharply defined inguinal crease sounds a hell of a lot less sexy than swimmer's lines.

So I'm going to contribute to the objectification of men as well. On the bright side I buy a ticket/season pass/copy of everything that Max Martini acts in so.... WERK IT MAX!

I saw him in Captain Phillips and thought they could not have cast a better SEAL commander. It drove me crazy trying to figure out what else I'd seen him in so I looked on IMDB. Pretty much everything apparently. Now I will remember his name. It almost seems made up for an actor, but it is his real name.

Mr. Peak Capacity Fancy Cocktails as he's known on Tumblr. He's on Crisis on NBC right now, The Unit and his breakout role of Herc Hansen in Pacific Rim.

Sixties' James Bond was a weakling compared to Daniel Craig's muscle-bound version of the spy.

Lol, whoa whoa whoa. Time out.

Sean Connery was a bodybuilder and Mr. Universe competitor - but yeah, people only care about hot bodies in Hollywood nowadays. Okay.

I was just about to post this. But a Men's Health writer not knowing jack shit is hardly news. Cary Grant was very much into fitness and you can see a change in his body when he stopped caring in the 60's and retired.

Abuse of steroids, HGH, and other PEDs has become an epidemic in Hollywood because of the pressure for everyone, even middle-aged and old dudes, to have action figure bodies, but whatever because you enjoy ogling ripped torsos.

I had a very good friend who trained with a Gunter type trainer. He looked unbelievable. He was chiseled and tan. He attracted a very hot younger dude. And then he had a heart attack at 49. Had to quit everything, his dude left him, and now he is dealing with heart damage and being a skinny dude. Awful.

Honestly, whatever. I get why this stuff gets posted all the time. But you know what? Next time you feel the urge to tell some MRA douche that feminism is for men too, just shut the fuck up instead because you're full of it.

I'm sorry that the gif offended/angered you. I posted it as a joke and honestly didn't mean any harm by it. Clearly, that's not what happened, so I apologize.

I know that objectification is wrong on either end of the spectrum. I think that, in this case, it's a prime example of the patriarchy failing, well, everyone. Raising virility, strength, etc. up on a pedestal creates a standard for men that many (maybe most?) cannot achieve. It's just the same as raising rail-thin models as the highest echelon for beauty.

I believe that, for men and women, all body types should be represented and celebrated, because it's what helps make everyone different in their own right.

S/he seems kind of unhinged. I responded with similar levels of dismissiveness to her post, and s/he dismissed it after it received too many stars. Here's the copy:

On behalf of men, I think most of us are fine with it.

We'd just prefer you stopped endlessly, ENDLESSLY whining about the beautiful women in media, while engaging in exactly the same objectification yourselves.

You want hot guys? Go for it. Ogle away. Rub one out to oiled up abs. We'll live. Just stop bleating and crying about how unfair it is that Kate Upton is on TV reaffirming how much more beautiful women out there can be than you.
