Um, that's kind of fucked up to call this guy a "typical PA resident". Where's your evidence to suggest that most Pennsylvanians share similar bigoted views?

I have news for you, Duane, those 'Orientals' are propping up your decaying area of the world, not destroying it. The Sands Casino was built by Shelton Adelson from the husk of the old Bethlehem Steel plant. This once great industrial area has been reduced to cheap slots and entertainment. Without regular casino visitors, this area would be among the most economic depressed in the nation. So, buck up, DUANE.

I mean....not really. The slots do help the town, though lord knows how much. Bethlehem Steel also has a huge music venue and not to mention Musikfest, which is a huge music festival that brings revenue and tourists to the city. Bethlehem isn't depressed and gone because Bethlehem Steel is gone, and it's not solely resting on the casino.

I do agree with you that any Asian tourists only help, with adding diversity and revenue to the city. But it's not a decaying husk.

Well I'm writing here from Bethlehem

Where we cherish every dandelion stem

And the eggs we sell ought to be enshrined

      Protected from harm

      From Eastern mankind.

But the Orientals travel in packs

And their taking all the eggs off our racks

And we know it's just a matter of time

      Before they steal dogs

      (That's how they're inclined.)

And I'm writing here from Bethlehem.

Sad that PA has to deal with all of these minorities ruining everything. Mexicans are "taking their jobs", "inner city blacks" are "moving to rural areas to hide from police", Asians are coming in by the busload to scalp vouchers and spend most of that money at local businesses..

What ever happened to the American dream? Why can't a decent redneck just make a living cooking up some heroin to sell to their neighbors anymore? Why are these people making life so hard for white Pennsylvanians?

Anyone working for a newspaper (no, doesn't matter how small the paper or town) using the word "Orientals" to describe people in 2014 needs to be punched in the face. Describing a rug? Ok cool. People? Not so much. How did this get by the editor(s)?

This article is loaded with derision for Duane Whateverthefuckhisnameis but as a resident of Bethlehem let me say he is 100% correct. I am in no way really bothered by the huge influx from the Asian community but he isn't lying and the stories about geese, paper towels, vegetables, and loitering are all true. You literally cannot get a table at the casino cause all seats are always filled by Asians.

Please stop reminding me that the rest of my state exists. I like to pretend that everything outside the Yellow Belt is just a desolate wasteland, stretching for miles in every direction until hitting NYC, Chicago, and DC.

Well except for your sports teams...cause there is no way in hell we are going to cheer for a team from New York, especially if they play in New Jersey.
