One of the worst demons is to be a southern gay person who loves those damn pickle marinated fried chicken sandwiches. There is shit fast food down here, guys.

That sounds terrible. Don't you have Popeye's or SOMETHING? Or is it really just Waffle House from here 'til [folksy expression]? I have heard tales.

There are 2 chicken fast food places across the street from this restaurant: Chicken Express and Golden Chick. KFC has a dual restaurant with Long John Silvers within a half mile of this and two more KFC's within a mile. There's also a Chick Fil A inside the student dining center of UTA within a half mile. I drive past this site twice a day.

It looks like the sauce in one of those pictures is a remoulade, which is the signature sauce of Cane's which is about 2 miles from this location.

Here's the google map for chicken near me (my office). The SuperChix is right about in the middle, next to the Chicken Express.

My office is on Cooper, so I hit the one right near Super Chix. I love Chicken Express, but I've hit the age where my doctor checks my cholesterol, so I have to keep it in moderation. Those corn nuggets, though. Damn.

I'm actually surprised that no one did this sooner.

If there was literally any comparable option to Chic-fil-a, I would be 5 lbs heavier. Instead, I'm sticking to my permanent delicious chicken sandwich fast.

You're a bigger person than I. My Chick-fil-a boycott lasted about two weeks.

I eat at Chick-fil-A often and I like their food since it seems to be better quality than KFC. Should I feel guilty about eating here? I know their CEO doesn't approve of gay marriage but I am sure that's the case with many CEOs (most are old white guys who are conservative). I am sure Chick-fil-A treats its employees better than KFC. Isn't that what matters more? If someone is able to convince me to not eat there, I will make that decision and stick to it, but otherwise my laziness to think about this deeply means I will continue to enjoy their fried chicken.

I don't think it's a question of what a person individually believes — that's their absolute right and, even if I disagree with it, I wouldn't demand that they change their mind on my say-so.

The issue here is that the guys has used his position as CEO to lobby against marriage equality on a national level and he also sank a ton of money into anti-gay groups. And that's a public stand that he's taking, not just a private opinion.

Should you feel guilty about eating there? That's up to you. But personally I will never eat there. Even though he publicly apologized, it still ain't enough for me. I think that was driven by dollars, not morality.

That's a good point about lobbying at the national level. I will have to think hard now about whether I want to keep supporting them. Thanks for that. So, do you also boycott Koch Industries products?

I wish they'd taken a shot at resurrecting the Kenny Rogers roast chicken restaurants — I loved that place, right down to the big beard-wipin' napkins.

    Kenny?

They still exist, Kenny Rogers Restaurants. You just have to hit Malaysia or Singapore to get to one.

Please don't mention Kenny Rogers roasters in my presence....it's enough to make me tear up. I had a come-apart when they left my hometown in Alabama. Best.cornbread.ever.

Who's with me for a North Texas meetup at this place? I haven't eaten Chik-fil-a in probably 20 years as they've been on my list along with Hobby Lobby for a very, very long time. They are a big sponsor of Susan G. Komen, and the survivor bags would be full of coupons for free sandwiches, so I always gave mine to my mother who adored Chik-fil-a so she'd have twice as many.

Sigh. Her yahrzeit is this week.

I was at the Central Arlington YMCA today to work out and was stopped by someone who gave me a coupon for my family to eat there for free on Wednesday. Yay not cooking dinner.

Also, Hamilton is clueless when it comes to chicken strip fast food places because he didn't mention Raising Cane's (I love their Cane's sauce) or Zaxby's.

He's also Christophe, one of the "three food obsessed friends who believed that chicken could and should do better" from the "Super Chix Story"

I really don't understand this thing that is Chik-fil-A. I mean, my wife eats it, but I don't even think it tastes good. When I want chicken, I want it on the bone, and fried with spicy coatings, like God intended. I don't want mealy bland processed fillets on a bun with a pickle. And LORD KNOWS I don't want cheese on it. Seriously…

We don't have Gus's up north - and man, does that look delicious. The closest thing we have to "premium" fried chicken are the Korean places. (And there aren't many of them out in the 'burbs, yet.)

I thought I was the only one underwhelmed by them. The chicken sandwich I got just tasted like the cheap Tyson's chicken patties I can get at the grocery store.

What? No, it looks delicious. I'd rather have my food photographed in a way that shows how the food will actually fucking look when I order it — not some studio plasticine nonsense that makes a Big Mac look like the Most Beautiful Burger Ever Created.

Bring this shit to California. We love chicken. We also love gay people, which makes avoiding the two Chick Fil A's we have in LA a very difficult thing to do when you need chicken-based fast food.
