I love it. The candy wrapper dresses remind me of many a 1st year fashion designer who is "so creative" and makes an "edgy" dress out of candy wrappers or newspapers. I wonder if that crossed Mr. Scott's mind at all when he pooed these out, and if it did, I kind of like it more. In that ironic way.

Those wigs are hideous. And so is everything else. I hate when fashion houses splatter their name over everything. We get it. You dropped mad money for this crap.

Can you...do that? Just put an exact rendition of a trademarked character on merchandise and then sell it?

Since it didn't work out really well when he appropriated copyrighted material from a small company, I suspect that the lawyers were on this and a licensing arrangement was made. Although it would be pretty terrific if he got hauled into court again, because you generally can't prosecute for hackiness and lack of creativity and it would provide some redress.

Whenever in doubt on whether something is offensive to a group originally affiliated with that thing, ask yourself if they would use your "thought provoking" product or not. If they wouldn't, you probably did something wrong.

I work(ed) McDonalds and I wouldn't have been caught dead in the clothes outside of the store. Nor would any other person who worked there. The ONLY way someone can think of this as "rad" or "cool" would be if they were so far removed from poverty that nobody could possibly think they were actually "tainted" by the connection to it. And that's why it's stupid and offensive. I am not crying a river over here but I am also far from impressed. Marie Antoinette had a silver milk bucket, Moschino, and look what happened to her.

        NAILED IT.

The issue with this kinda thing is that white rich people can "Try on" a persona for a day and have no connections to it. They can stereotype and bastardize people for fun and fashion, and it's really sad.

It really is like Marie Antionette, a rich little girl playing an insensitive game of dress up.

These clothes have almost zero to do with any actual McDonald's uniform. You find me a McDonald's uniform that looks like any of the stuff presented above or in past Scott fashion shows, and I'll eat my words. Playing with colors or logos doesn't count.

The riff is on the cross between so-called "high" and "low" culture. All this hand-wringing over supposed "privilege" misses the point.

Especially considering most of us have dressed like coal miners or farmers for decades now in flannels, blue jeans, work boots, and other clothing previously reserved for blue collar or field work.

But things get mixed up and used differently. It's the way of fashion.
