      I'm mostly with you on that though having been through a somewhat public embarrassment myself, sometimes you do need to hear it even if it's obvious.

      Well, I certainly would be lying if I tried to say I didn't give generic obvious advice to friends in need too. I do that. But it just seems so weird that it is this "hush hush" no one can know talk filled with cliches and no substance. Like why risk it?

      I do get that it is more the fact that he is giving her his tactic support (fat lot of good that did). But it seems so silly on the surface.

    Christ, Trotter, Max Read gets a whole minute at the top of the page before you steal his thunder?

    Also, how could a person who makes their living hacking into other people's records so readily e-mail awkward or incriminating evidence? Nice to know the circle jerk of the wealthy and powerful doesn't demand discretion.

      Because they never consider that they'll be caught or that anyone else would use the same tactics as they do. They are better than us, obviously. That's why Murdoch put on the dumbshow in front of the Leveson enquiry.

      Did he give the order to tap phones? "Ohh... golly... I don't recall... I don't think so?"
      What did he think of a rival businessman? "*thumps the desk* That blood-thirsty bastard had his eyes on that company that I was going to buy and...." on and on.

      Rupert Murdoch, Chris Christie, they've all put themselves in a bind. They've spent the last 30 years venerating alpha male micromanaging Type A Business Assholes who run their organizations with an iron fist and don't tolerate incompetence from anyone. Then when it turns out their organizations were systematically breaking the law and abusing their power, suddenly they're delegaters who were totally unaware of any wrongdoing. It might keep them out of jail, but the court of public opinion makes some compelling rulings.
