Gah. Normally I'm so adept at picking up on e-sarcasm, but you're right, and I totally missed it.

What the fuck was the point of this post, though? That's what I'm really trying to figure out. She has "old lady" taste? So? Maybe she likes the aesthetic of Dynasty. Mature tackiness is very in right now. She's 21. She'll change her mind before the year's out. She's not messy? And? I don't leave pizza boxes all over my place because trash cans/recycle bins exist. Also, who the fuck would leave a mess to be photographed and put in a magazine? Fa'real? Okay.

I completely agree. This is mid-century design, and it looks to be quite deliberate. I actually am in my late 40's, and my home looks nothing like this. I really don't understand the point of this post, either.

But 40 is HELLA OLD! Karlie Kloss should be ashamed to be living in a stylish 40-year-old's fancy NYC apartment! How embarrasing for her, right?

And yeah, the pizza box and laptop thing was fuckin' bizarre. It's VOGUE, FFS.

Exactly. If Vogue was coming over to shoot my house, you'd better believe I would remove ALL evidence that any human being actually lived there.

See, I always figure they have a team of interns and stylists that sweeps through and removes all your crappy magazines and hides your hair products and artfully places fruit. At least that's what I tell myself when I flip through Vogue or Dwell and then look around my apartment.

Right? It's mid-century modern with an eclectic twist. Pretty much MY EXACT STYLE.

It needs a bit more Victorian Steam Punk, but that's nothing that can't be fixed with a trip or three to Restoration Hardware!

I don't know why you assume this home doesn't represent her? Taste is individual. Maybe she really likes the gold circular fan thing? It's not to my taste, but I assume she selected the items or paid someone to select items for her. She seems happy with the outcome as a representation of herself, so why are we telling her this isn't an accurate reflection of her style/self?

Exactly. This article had no reason to be written.

And I actually like this style, I am partial to golds and pinks and yellows. Seems soothing.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of the fan (pun INTENDED), but I love gold and sparkles like woah. I'd gladly put the vast majority of this furniture in my house.

I just don't see why everything on this site has to be framed as a "problem." (As in, The only problem is...). There doesn't have to be a problem with a 21 year old having a sweet apartment that I'd take off her hands in 5 seconds flat. It's just fun to look at!

"I hope Karlie gets the chance to have a home that represents her one day because this can't be that."

Wow. Dick move, Hilary, whoever you are. Dick move.

ETA: I wonder what it's like over there when the consensus of every commenter on an article is negative.

I agree with you, and also, why does this seem to assume that Karlie Kloss is fun, interesting, creative, or whatever she thinks her apartment should look like in order to represent her? Because she's 21, pretty and a model?

I know nothing about Karlie Kloss. Maybe she's brilliant and interesting, maybe she's boring and devoid of original thought. I don't know. But I guess I'd take her word for who she is. If she says this apartment represents her, I'll take it on faith. I'm also not sure home decor is quite the Rorschch Test this article seems to imply it is, anyway.

Maybe you just don't have any taste? I think the apartment looks fresh and eclectic. Not everyone takes their inspiration from their teenaged bedroom or college dorm.

Right? That gold coffee table is fresh and modern as hell. The couch and that gold fan thing wouldn't be my first choices aesthetically with everything else, but the art! the huge plant! the chairs! that banquette print! Karlie's killing it...and even if she wasn't, if it makes her happy then good enough.

Yeah, this was just soooo much shade where no shade was warranted. She's a rich supermodel, of course her place looks fancy. She probably stays there like 3 days a year. And what kind of slob leaves old pizza boxes lying around for a Vogue photo shoot?

You can have it if I can steal the fancy little gold chairs. I have a thing for furniture that looks like it came from a 19th century bordello.
