      The platypus terrifies me. I look at it and can find no explanation for it which makes me think its creation was supernatural in original, subverting all science. If we have platypuses, then we might as well have fire breathing dragons with wings. Even more terrifying, what if the platypus is PROOF OF GOD.

      It gets worse! Not only is it a hideously ugly animal, per Wikipedia and my memory, "It is one of the few venomous mammals, the male platypus having a spur on the hind foot that delivers a venom capable of causing severe pain to humans." I bet you're really scared now!

      For years on Antique Roadshow, people's response to a high appraisal was "You're kidding me!" Now the most common response seems to be "Wow!" I think I prefer the latter.
