On a related note: the insincere button-pushing of birthday wishes on facebook — "oh, it's Joe Fuckstick that i haven't thought about in three years but did that one thing that one time's birthday so I'll say, like the other 9,760 people 'happy birthday'" - has completely rendered the whole point of REMEMBERING a birthday (e.g. "I'm thinking of you") entirely virtueless.

All kidding, aside they should just automate happy birthday wishes. Since they've already stripped the act of its core social purpose, at this point, what's the fucking difference?

For it to be a proper Facebook 'Look Back' movie, it would need to include several pictures not of Rob Ford and even a few statuses like 'buuuuurp'.

Mine included not one of the people I've dated or any of my closest friends, but a nice selection of my acquaintances and a finale that featured a picture of Meryl Streep that I once posted.

Facebook's Look Back movies doesn't make sense. Mine didn't show one single picture, status or comment of my girlfriend.

Mine for some reason highlighted as my most liked posts, a few random posts that got 3-4 Likes.

There's a girl on my FB who constantly posts the same selfie. Different locations, different lipstick, different hair. Same fucking face. Everyday, for years. Her "Look Wack" video was a-ma-zing.

Having said that, I don't care for FB collecting my photos and montaging them for me with shitty music. I didn't need to see that 2006 photo with my ex or the chick that fucked me over at work in 2008. Thanks for the thought though.

Yeah... While I do actually enjoy these videos, the randomization of Facebook plucking the photos for you kind of ruined mine. For one, like you said, there are photos from 2005 that I put up that are embarrassing and irrelevant. Next, because of the way the platform has changed over the years - and how we've changed the way we use it - like 60% of the shit that popped up were photos of my dog or one-line status updates I posted this year ("I hope Northwest is a fan of One Direction"). So it wasn't really "my life" on Facebook. Finally, the one profile picture they randomly chose as the central image was a fucking Deathly Hallows symbol that was my profile picture for 24 hours back in 2011 when the last Harry Potter movie came out. So, yeah, way to go Facebook. Such a charming portrait of me.

Let's make our own award for John Cook and then invite Rob Ford to be the host. Hijinks may ensue, or possibly even shenanigans. I love me a good shenanigan.

can't decide between these two responses:

i'm surprised you posted a video of rob ford without first trying to extort a large sum of money from your readers

        or

good thing this is free otherwise gawker would have figured out some way to make it disappear
