      Just because Cobb wanted to do this here doesn't mean ND is full of racists or anything of the sort. Leith isn't far from where I grew up and while ND isn't the most diverse state, we're all fairly nice people.

      There's not really anyone we discriminate against (except for Canadians, comin' down with their loonies and pieces of eight and moose hides or whatever passes for money up there these days...).

        I'm not American and haven't seen this doc (yet) so I'm unsure as to what they tried to do - were they just moving in and having meetings or were they trying to change town alws etc.?

        Anyway my question is, what are the specifics of trying to do something like this in the US? Is it illegal? If it is, how does that work? Where is the line between illegal and legal? At what point does it go from 'like-minded individuals choosing to live together legally' to, well, the illegal part?

        They were effectively trying to drive out everyone who wasn't down with turning the town into an armed fortress, and were patrolling the streets with drawn weapons, attempting to intimidate the citizenry. Which turned out not to be a terribly wise thing to do, seeing how (at least) one of them was a convicted felon and not allowed to own firearms.
