Let's hope she writes a novel about a newspaper next.

    Uh, no. More wizards please.

Why not both? I can totally picture like a complete badass wizard lady reporter, kind of a Lois Lane meets Hermione Granger. I'd read the crap out of that!

The Daily Mail seems to have an inexplicable vendetta against Rowling. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I've read several hateful pieces about her there. They always draw negative comments from readers who defend Rowling, too. My assumption is that someone in charge there has something personal against her- or maybe it's just because she dared to be a single mother who achieved success by working her ass off, and supports Labour.

It's very strange, since as far as I can tell, she's one of the more likable famous people out there. I mean, she has actual talent and created things that people like, unlike reality stars. She gives money to charity. To my knowledge, she hasn't been arrested for drunk driving or anything like that. What is there to hate about her?

I would love it if it turned out that everyone "in the know" (which I would not be, not being a journalist, a Brit, or a dedicated follower of publishing gossip) knew that there was a senior "journalist" or editor at the Daily Mail on whom Rita Skeever was obviously and perfectly based, but who would never sue for defamation because it would be too embarrassing to admit to it. That would explain the vendetta, right?

I always loved JK Rowling's portrayal of Rita Skeeter. You can tell that by the time the 4th book was out, she'd had her fill of shitty "reporters." Sad that she still has to deal with them—especially shit like this, considering all the good she's done.

Whenever we watch The Goblet of Fire my teenager says, "There's mommy, there's mommy!" when Rita Skeeter is on the screen. I used to exclaim "HOW IS THAT ME!" but she is so happy with her comparison I cannot even bother anymore. I don't see it. But everyone gets a great laugh.

I was disappointed that the film version of Goblet of Fire didn't include Rita Skeeter getting her comeuppance. Seriously one of the best parts of the book.

Indeed, sue that paper to oblivion. It will improve the world a bit if the Daily Mail stops existing.

I think Cormoran Strike ought to have a little browse through the private lives of Daily Mail reporters one of these days. Just a little perusal. Find out who's fucking someone they shouldn't. Who's fudging their tax returns. Who's been spending a little too much money in Ladbrokes. Who isn't paying their child support. Who's doing too many lines of charlie off a cistern in the Dean Street Townhouse loos. Who can't get into work in the morning without a coupla voddies to make their head stop spinning.

You know there's an absolute goldmine there. Let's get the big man on it. Those vultures deserve everything they've shat out on others.

I'm loving the story about how Dacre took loads of money in EU subsidies whilst having his paper rail against the EU.

Apparently Dacre, the editor gets lots of money in subsidies for his farm from the EU. The same EU he wants the UK out of.

When do we get to talk about the total batshit horrifying universe that is JK Rowling's wizarding world? I need to talk about it, I just do.
