Well fuck you for being 5' 11" and stealing what should've been my three inches.

Every time I look at one of Target's capsule collections — online or in the stores — I am thrown by how uniformly short the skirts are. I know I'm pretty tall, but I think that even on a shorter lady these hems would be high. I don't mind a mini on occasion, but all the time? (Yes, I'm aware that I sound like the crotchetiest schoolmarm ever to crotchet.) There have been a lot of times when I end up hanging a dress back up thinking, nope, don't want my actual ass on a subway seat.

same. depending where you are, some skirts just become only tights skirts and others are just dedicating yourself to a day/night of standing carefully.

Yeah, these are cute but if I can't wear it to the office where I spend 70% of my week then there's not much point in buying one.

Hey, let's not go mocking the fit-and-flare look. It looks awesome on me, and I'm buying every fit and flare dress out there so that I can hoard them until they go out of style, and I'm stuck with nothing but baby-doll or sheath or maxi dresses again.

Society in general. I feel like I read a lot of criticism of the way that Zoey Deschanel dresses, and her tendency towards fit and flare. I was just heading the comments I normally see about her clothes off at the pass, because I am loving the fact that it means I can get clothes that are flattering on me.

Isn't the Zooey Deschanel Dress Collection called ModCloth?

    (Not hating, I love ModCloth).

I have recognized at least two dresses on New Girl as being from ModCloth!

(When I started recognizing things regularly on TV that was when I finally realized I had a serious problem. I went cold turkey for a while, and recently dipped my toes back in the ModCloth water.)

This made me laugh so hard. I'm going to use this justification for every clothing purchase I make for the rest of my life.

Umm, yeah I want this. For the country club girl inside me that pretends she likes tennis but really will just spend the whole time sipping vodka lemonades. No shame.

Thank god there aren't bibs and ruffles everywhere. She sometimes dresses like the mean girl in your kindergarten class who had perfect pigtails.

Sigh....I love these dresses but am Officially Too Old for them. I would look like I was trying to dress as a six year old.

Also, fashion in general? Can we quit with the above the knee skirts? They look ridiculous on some of us and there is nothing else in the stores!

Oh hell yes! I used to think it was because I was tall/long-legged, but now I see that the dresses are SUPPOSED to be short. Even in stores like Ann Taylor Loft, which was the place I got most of my work clothes when I was working (the rare store that hit that sweet spot between too youthful and matronly), most of the dresses and skirts are way above the knee and have been for a few years. What kind of workplace (the kind of places that Loft is making clothes for) doesn't frown on that sort of thing? I sometimes feel like these short "work" dresses and skirts are "aspirational," or designed for a lifestyle that doesn't exist (like where the "weekend" outfit is far fancier than anything I would ever wear on a weekend).

Yep yep yep! I'm fairly tall with long legs and a barrel torso, and if dresses like this were just two, three inches longer so they hung in proportion (hit at the knee, waistband at actual waist, etc.) I would buy fifty of them. But I'm 42 years old and don't want to look like I'm trying to be a schoolgirl when I'm out in the world.

I don't hate any of it. I find this to be really surprising. She usually looks like the tweeest twee who ever tweed.

I would like to see some actual tweed in this collection, actually.

And some other color options. But yeah, it's not bad, eh?

        I'm very pro tweed.

I was just surprised because everything in this collection looks like something than an adult woman would wear; I'm not used to feeling this way about her clothing. It usually looks like she used this machine to enlarge toddler clothing.

It's cute and I like that it's not a total departure from Tommy Hilfiger's normal aesthetics. I would say it's a perfect collaboration of their two styles.
