Maybe Macklemore won because those who voted are tired of consumerist, misogynistic and homophobic bullshit that permeates rap.

Have you even heard any of Kendrick Lamar's music?

Nah. I'm pretty sure it's because Macklemore is white. Let's not pretend that a majority of people who loved "The Heist" actually listened to Kendrick Lamar's album.

It's really a shame that a completely independent artist won Grammys over all those hard working major label artists. And he's a white rapper?!? FUCK THAT SHIT!

Wow, a terribly written article that says essentially nothing from almost a year ago? Hiring a distro company for certain services, even if that service is affiliated with WMG, does not automatically disqualify an artist from being independent. Macklemore is paying out of pocket for those services a la carte, not giving up equity in his music, which means he's still independent.

EDITED TO ADD: Look at ADA's website, they don't even offer radio services, so that article you linked is even MORE baseless. I'm sure he DID hire some radio promotion company (they exist, here's a popular one that probably reps a lot of your favorite independent aritsts), but it wasn't ADA, as is asserted in that idiotic article.

If it makes you feel any better, Macklemore, Kendrick Lamar and the Grammys all suck ass.

You're dead wrong about Kendrick. I can understand if he's not your type of artist or whatever, but he's the best hip hop artist in the game right now. I can't even call him a "rapper."

I'm just glad we live in an age where white people can finally beat black people in the place where black culture specifically retreated to to preserve their own culture.

You're right that it was self serving to put the photo of his text up, but I don't think it was dickish. You might be doing that too if all of social media was blowing up about people wanting you to die/get shot/etc over a stupid, meaningless award. Probably thought he could diffuse tension by showing that he recognizes Kendrick.

It was self-serving in a sense, but also publicly giving Kendrick his propers. A little weaselly, but I think an effort to acknowledge the injustice of the award. You can bet that JayZ or Kanye wouldn't have given Kendrick the time of day if they would have won.
