    I'm not trying to excuse this, but it looks like its based on a well known art piece: http://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/j… which has been around since the 60's.

    Also, MLK Jr. Day is an American holiday and most people around the world aren't aware of it.

      Yes, it is. There are many pieces, not all the women are Black. That doesn't excuse the fact that it was in horribly bad taste. Most people around the world aren't aware of MLK? Okay then. That's like saying no one outside of SA knows about, cares about, or respects the legacy of Nelson Mandela.

      Seriously. The chair itself may be a commentary on gender and racial politics. Her sitting in the chair like it was a normal piece of furniture and posing for a photograph (as opposed to treating it like art) is just wrong.

      How can a photo be "out of context"? There's no excuse for something like that; the only person more idiotic than someone who would actually sit on that "chair" is the person who created it in the first place. There is no artistic value or statement being made there, it's just trash.
