All that happened because of a text? I don't buy it. I can see maintaining a straight trajectory and not seeing something cross your path because you're texting, but who is so distracted by a text that they don't notice they're rapidly accelerating and veering 30 degrees to the right? That looks more like someone passed out at the wheel and fell forward with their weight on the steering wheel and gas pedal.

Also when I see videos like this it makes me wonder why we drive cars at all. I feel like something that heavy shouldn't be able to flip over so easily and/or I should not be riding in something that flips over that easily.

I really do not understand how that relatively small tree flipped the car over. Edited: well, I guess with the speed he was going and the strength of those branches it's possible, but yikes.

I mean how long do you follow a guy weaving in and out of their lane, getting ready to pull out in front of traffic, and driving erratically before you light them up?

yeah, why would he wait so long? did he want the guy to run over a pedestrian so he could book him on more serious charges?

My guess it was a slow night and not a lot of people on the road (meaning the risk of him hitting someone was small), and the cop wanted a couple more seconds of witnessing this awful driving on his side?

Never seen a cop wait THAT long before hitting the lights. Did he want him to pull into traffic first?

The cop's actions are a little strange to me too. Why didn't he pull him over sooner? Also, he made no attempt to help the man when his car overturned. Sure, the guy brought it on himself, but I'd at least try and help.

He could've had his lights on. I was once pursued by a cop for about 90 seconds and didn't realize it because I was texting. I looked up a bunch of times, but never in my rear view mirror.

People who make right turns straight into the far left lane are the number one cause of cancer and dead puppies in the United States. How you passed driver's ed pulling that shit is beyond me.

Now I don't drive, but shouldn't you be looking up enough to see the cop car? At the very least?

Not much looking in the rear view mirror when you can't be bothered to look ahead of you.

I'd rather they show this video than the "this is the text she sent me just before she hit a train" ads. There's visceral, and then there's tone-deaf and visceral.

That officer probably had to wait 10 minutes to stop laughing before calling that crash in.
