Is 48 seconds really long enough to hold off the poachers though? Now I'm going to be worried about the elephants!

I was thinking the exact same thing. I already have too much to worry about to add these specific beauties to my list!

I was worried, too, but looking at the Twitter feed, it looks like they aren't tweeting any actual coordinates. The four in question seem to all be in a national park, and photos are added to some of the tweets, so I'm assuming the delay is significantly greater than 48 seconds anyway. So I guess the delay in their receiving the information is actually more of a precaution in case poachers hack into the system that relays movement. tl;dr, I don't think the hunters will get much, if any, extra information from this! (Fingers crossed.)

Elephants!!!! I like anything that will raise awareness about how BRILLIANT these animals are. Plus, who wouldn't want to read the inner monologue of an elephant?

I'm glad you've seen the light regarding elephants. For additional elephant squee, see Shirley and Jenny, two elephants who were in a circus together and reunited after 20+ years at the elephant sanctuary in Tennessee! After they were reunited they spent every day together as BFFs until Jenny passed away a few years ago.

Whatever. @WY Police Horses is obviously the best animal follow.
(Seriously, this twitter feed is so quaint and unpretentious, I can't).
