Roger Ailes isn't a person, he's an idea. Then what is that skinbag affixed with several kinds of bladders walking around? That's the greatest mystery.

Hey, you're right on the money. Rather than attacking a monster for his ideals, we should all just make fun of him because he's a fatty fat fat person. It's the most non-juvenile way to approach debate with people we disagree with: fat-shaming.

So even though we all are skinbags affixed with several kinds of bladders I am fat shaming?

"...and by totally fabricating that childhood story, I meant to teach you all a lesson: never trust anybody." -Roger Ailes.

      You win.

(Of course, his entire media career is also an example of the same lesson...)

I got the book on my kindle last night around 1 AM and stayed up all night reading it, to be finished tonight I'd imagine. It's a fascinating read regardless of your party affiliation, and very revealing on how the most important figure in media over the last 40 years developed into a paranoid sociopath (spoiler alert.)

Here's another life lesson: Don't ever take life lessons from somebody who's a big enough asshole to deliberately let you fall in order to teach you a lesson.

I first heard the story in this joke book, published in 1962: http://www.amazon.com/The-Best-Sick-…

(That joke book changed my life, BTW)

The anecdote may be made up bullshit but it seems to accurately describe an event that would cause a boy to grow up to be a utter loathsome asshole. So I ask, is it really false?

If the first evidence of the trope was 1977, and Ailes was sharing it in the "70s", which came first? The trope or Ailes story? Is there other pre-70s evidence that this story existed?

To be fair, such an incident would explain both Roger Ailes' face, and the damage to the empathy centers of his brain.

I see a journalism career out of this for Shia LeWhatever.

No fan of Ailes myself, but is it possible the trope was so well-known that his father was aware of it, and thought this sort of child abuse might impart a valuable life lesson?
