Interestingly, the prevalence of substance abuse disorders is higher around Yale than in much of Missouri. I really wouldn't have expected that, honestly, but here it is:

    Facts. They are interesting things.

Yeah, well. I dunno if you've ever been to New Haven, but there are two parts: Rich Yale and the poor ghetto.

Only reason I can come up with would be there's more disposable income there?

Meth is some nasty shit. Along with causing paranoid instances the myocardial infarctions happen when you use speed. It's sad that it happened, but he was probably addicted to meth and it is damed hard to get people off of it.

you're absolutely right, meth is damn hard to quit. I was introduced to meth at 17, rapidly dwindled down in size, but far worse, I went thru a period of psychosis from not eating and not sleeping. How to deal with drug addictions??? it took some time, but I did become rehabilitated, but only becAuse 1. my parents had the time and resources to commit to my addiction and 2. I finally reached a point where I wanted to quit. next question: how many of us have friends who are dabbling too deep with the hard drugs? at what point do I step in as a friend? or even an acquaintance? how do I do this without damaging trust?

So much speculation about the police doing this to him when this story first "broke". Anyhow, I wonder if his use was fueled by all-night sex parties or chasing tenure at Yale? Actually, are the two different?

This is why the rapid spread of Adderall use is so scary. I have a script for it and am shutting it down. Makes you super jumpy, heart beating a million miles an hour, craving booze...terrible. Take my word for it....DONT TAKE ADDERALL

I enjoy it when I fall behind on stuff at work, since it puts me into overdrive. I don't really get the booze cravings or jumpiness though.

I agree, but that's the problem with it. You "enjoy" it. I enjoy it, also. Too much. It has that effect on many users. Absolutely an addictive drug with scary side effects.

Patrick Bateman: He was into that whole Yale thing.

      Donald Kimball: Yale thing?

      Patrick Bateman: Yeah, Yale thing.

Donald Kimball: What whole Yale thing?

Patrick Bateman: Well, for one thing, I think he was probably a closet homosexual who did a lot of cocaine. That whole Yale thing.

You can monkey with a gibbon, You can fiddle with a bow / But before you snort that crystal meth, there's some things that you should know / Meth is made from antihistamines, in basement labs it's cooked / And possession is a felony, which means that you'll get booked / With a snort it zips right up your nose, and eats away your brain / It kills your sense of good and evil, and it makes you go insane / Here we go... / So don't meth with meth, Beth / Don't meth with meth, Seth / Don't meth with meth... Gwyneth / Don't meth with crystal meth!
