That he died (and lived) in Burbank makes me sad. Hopefully it was a nice place.

I bet Paul Simon is conflicted- on the one hand, thrilled to finally be out from under all the early comparisons and on the other, just happy to be mentioned again. And you know Garfunkel wish't'were Paul.

That's a nice long run, but I feel the worst for the mother. Nobody should ever have to outlive their child and see them die. That must be awful.

Something similar pretty much killed my grandmother. Her youngest, my father, died while she was living with us and she hung on for a while but aged 20 years in the space of two years and died in her sleep on his birthday.

Wow, that anecdote is a fun way to start a weekend! Enjoy the snow, everyone who has it. Here's to a healthy 2014 to you all. Now go watch some funny dog or cat videos.

I saw them open for Simon and Garfunkel at the Meadowlands 10 years ago. Still sounded great and really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Still don't regret spending what was basically my life savings at the time on those tickets.

survived by his brother Don, wife Patti, two children, and—astonishingly—his mother.

Sammy Davis, Jr. was survived by his grandmother.

Wow. I had to go look her up. She lived to be 112. In a short article about her when she turned 111, her daughter (Sammy's mom) is quoted as saying, "We've never told her about Sammy's death five years ago. At that age, 106, I didn't want to upset her."

A while ago I read the obituary of the Frenchwoman who was thought to be the oldest human then alive. She was 117 when she died. Her doctor convinced her to stop smoking her mini-cigars when she was 112. She also entered into a contract with some family where they would pay her living expenses and give her a pension and then, when she died, her house would pass to them. Apparently this is not uncommon in France, or used to be. Charles de Gaulle got a house this way. She outlived the guy she made the contract with and his son, and by the time the grandson got hold of the house it was worth about a quarter of what they had paid her over the course of her life. Please, in my next life, let me come back as her.

With? Specificity is not your strong suit. He seemed a little fey in the video up there, but...either way- or is that what you're saying...either way. Try to be clearer please.
