Residents of Bay View say they have noticed little difference, good or bad, in the smell of their streets,

Of course they haven't. It's Milwaukee. It always kind of smells like something.

Seriously. From the glorious chocolate wafting out of the Ambrosia Candy Co. to the heady hops of the breweries to that horrifying "rotting corpse of possibly a horse(?)" rising up over Menomonee Valley, Milwaukee truly presents the most varied and amazing olfactory experience of any American city.

Don't forget coffee from Alterra (I WILL NEVER CALL YOU COLECTIVO!!!!!!!!!!), and the lovely algae bloom in the summer (maybe this is the rotting dead you are referring to, the woooorst.) and lilac in the spring! I miss Milwaukee smells.

When you get there, ask Paul Ryan how on earth could a government agency have innovated like this when all the really good ideas only come from unregulated private firms.

Also, ask if the cheese provides any bounce that improves his running time!

I understand it was the Milwaukee Police Department that requested the brine be deployed against the ice-covered roads. Some one said "“Cheese it, the cops!".

They've also made several arrests for going the wrong direction down a One-Whey Street.

but won't there be cheesey bits that will inevitably recoagulate and instead of clogging our arteries will clog the sewer system. anybody recall that grotesque monstrous blob of grease they retrieved from the london sewer system a few months ago...

i'm sure there are going to be some unpleasant consequences.. there always are...

It's salt, but you can imagine cheese curds if you want.

This brine evaporated is salt water and it does have the tendency to pick up the scent of what was in it.

One time at my favorite Italian deli, one of the aging provolones hanging above me dripped a drop of cheese brine on me. It was a smell that stuck with me for days. It was awful. I would not want to be anywhere near this.

When I lived in Dayton, Ohio, they used beet juice one year because they were too poor to buy salt. Worked fine enough, plus no rust danger for cars.
