That might be a sort of "don't kick 'em while he's down" sort of thing. Also, Dodge and Burn is not the main Gawker page, which is what these are exclusively from, I believe.

Not even Gawker knows Dodge and Burn exists(or what it's about, besides drag queen pics).

Seems to me these are, at least in part, headline problems. Some are so literal that you need not click to get the story (Nelson Mandela back in hospital. Got it. No more to say). And others are so confusing that they don't even generate curiosity (Can Lanny David use, uh, what the fuck?). Then of course, anything with "Michelle Shocked" and "Naps" in it is just begging to be ignored.

I felt the exact same way. Some of these articles were summed up perfectly in a sentence, which happened to be the headline.

Clap, clap, Gawker should hire you. I would have read all that (well, some of it) based on your rewrites. #6 stands out..well, and #2.

Whoa, that NSA story was pretty fucking good. So was that Lanny Davis one. But the fact that nobody read a story about Lanny Davis is proof of Tom Scocca's point in the story, which is kind of beautiful. For instance, in the early days of Daily Kos there were about three or four Lanny Davis digs per week; but now it's pretty low-hanging fruit.

Last point: maybe Drew Magary should respond to all Gawker media mail—just sayin'.

God, enough about Mandela's lung infection. The more publicity you give it the more likely it is to happen to someone else.
