    Some idiot on my Facebook posted another fake story just like this and she was all outraged even though at the very beginning of the article it says "This is satire". And she was like "I can't believe our free speech is being taken away", and one of the people commented on her post saying: "It says in the article that it's satire. I don't see any humour in this"

      I'm far less disturbed by the delusional victim porn of "War on Christmas" than I am the sheer tonnage of credulity the instaoutage nature of social media has brought to light. People i used to respect - some ostensibly intelligent — seem to have no bullshit meter whatsoever. I'd almost prefer not knowing how easily duped they are.

      My extended family are almost all conservative and one of them did post this on Facebook and I did step in to simply say "This was a satirical article. The events described didn't actually happen." Usually I wouldn't comment on any of their right-wing tomfoolery, but that actually worked out fine since I left all the things I was thinking (like "how can you fall for this, you morons!?") out of my comment.

    The fun thing is that most of the people who went apeshit over this bogus story are likely folks who are 100% positive there's a "War on Christmas" - because O'Reilly et al tell them so - and yet, have a very hard time finding tangible real-world evidence of it. So when a story like this comes along, they grab it and hold on for dear life. And when they learn it is fake, they're pissed as hell because some douchebag out there is taking away their finally-found basis for their fears, and now they're back to knowing, knowing there's a War on Christmas, except they still can't find anything to support it. They're back to square one, yet again.

      1) It was a false story planted by the liberal media.
      2) It's still true, the liberal media is covering it up.
      3) This story may not be true, but there are countless other instances that prove the War on Christmas.

          I don't think they are conservative. It seems like they are actually trying to fool conservatives to make them look stupid. That's just based on looking at the very limited Wikipedia article on them though, so I couldn't say for sure.
