    I'm sort of touched by the wife of 71 years. I wish I could find anyone I could tolerate for more than 2 minutes, but I decided long ago that the problem was me, and not other people. Still, there's a naive and sentimental part of me that envies those who truly believe in and truly find their soul mates.

    I'll admit: the 2 minutes is an exaggeration. But 4 hours. Four hours is about my date night limit, and then: no, you can't sleep over. No, I want you out of my home. No, I am leaving, even though it's the middle of the movie. Jesus Christ, 4 hours and I'm back to the only man in my life I can tolerate for the long term, and he occasionally drinks from the toilet.

      You're me. No, I can't go out for drinks after work because I have a dog. No, I can't sleep over because I have a dog. No, I can't hang out this weekend because I have a dog. No, I can't go to a movie with you because I have weird issues with personal space and light and sound and I have a sensitive nose and I go extra early so I can sit in "my seat." And I have a dog.

    why are so many people happy about this? it's kind of gross. he was undoubtedly crazy, no question. he never struck me as a conman because he seemed to actually believe the crazy shit he said. that's why I never viewed him as evil - I think he genuinely meant well, as batshit as we all knew it was.

    as for the people who gave him their money and houses or whatever, I'll just say this: Harold Camping didn't make them stupid.

      Perhaps it's not so much happy that a man died, but happy that there's one less huckster telling people that don't have means to give him money in order to please God. There are good religious leaders and bad religious leaders, Harold Camping's telling his followers to empty their bank accounts and then cry I'm not a financial adviser puts him in the bad religious leader cap.
      Plus, there's one less person calling for the world to end.

      Manson is crazy too, but I'm sure plenty of people will be relieved when he finally dies. Just because someone is crazy doesn't excuse them from convincing gullible people to do stupid, terrible things.
