I'm fairly certain it's legal everywhere in Canada for a woman to be topless in any public space. Basically, if a man can be topless there, so can a woman. It's just too cold here to exercise this freedom.

Some towns and cities wrote up by-laws against it after the ruling back in the '90s.

Born and raised New Yorker here.

It's not as "Liberal" as people assume it to be. I mean twenty years of Republican mayoralty, the non-existentence of the Fourth Amendment for Black and Brown men etc. I look forward to emigrating to the Bear Flag Republic, CA all day!

I grew up in LA, went to grad school in SD, and lived in NY for almost 5 years (Westchester.) I now live in the Stepford Wives County of Orange.

Westchester at its worst is more liberal than most of California at its best. Outside of SF, the rest of CA is fairly conservative (remember, we voted to ban gay marriage...). SD? Conservative. LA? Moderately conservative. OC? Conservative. Inland CA? Methservative.

Even SF is basically now just the own-fart-smelling wonderland of upper-middle class whites and Asians who work in tech. Gentrification has pushed nearly all of the minority population out to East Bay.

I mean, this state voted to punish undocumented immigrants almost as badly as Arizona with Prop 187, but we'll talk shit about Arizona all day long.

I wonder how much of this isn't necessarily the security guard's opinion personally, but just how much of a shitty circumstance this puts them in. They can't legally do anything and they know it, but they're probably having pressure placed on them by management to get rid of the women somehow. They also work in a job that at any point can turn physical - I imagine there'd be worry on their part on what would happen if the situation escalated somehow to the extent where they'd have to restrain naked women, and the potential problems they'd be open to there. They are the ones that would deal with complaints and anger from other customers should they be against it, or customers that would start harassing these women. All in all, while the ladies have every right to be there (and I support them being there) I don't think it would be erroneous to suggest that maybe it's not just "boobies! dur!" that are making them uncomfortable, but that it's definitely a situation that makes their job harder and is a potential problem because it is so out of the ordinary.

Fantastic point! Thanks for this balanced assessment of the (potential) situation.

Man, if the Occupy people had done this right on the Street, can you imagine how many DD-rated bonds would have been mistakenly issued that day?

The only places I want to see boobies are in advertising, in the titty bar, in movies, in music videos, in video games, in email forwards from my friends, in the porn I habitually download, in the porn sent to my spam folder, in magazines, on nearly every website, in my dreams/fantasies, and alongside the articles in playboy.

I definitely do not ever want to see boobies enjoying their natural environment, being used to feed babies, in art/museums, in national geographic, or in breast exam pamphlets. That is just gross.
