Sorry, but he still was right about your shameful 1950s-style takedown of Shep Smith.
But what happened to Carr's neck and how does it hold up his skull?

How is saying that Shep Smith had a hissy fit at a server when he was in a public restaurant with his boyfriend a "shameful 1950s-style takedown?"

You are aware you're reading a gossip site, right?

Tom Fiedler, former Knight-Ridder honcho, is at Boston College? All the news executives sure landed on their feet, didn't they, while all the reporters and photographers and copy editors are working at Wendy's. (But I'm just a bitter old has-been, don't mind me.) Actually I'm glad for David Carr. He seems to be an honest man and a great reporter who speaks truth to power yet doesn't get f'd over. So very rare.

This piece seems to miss that the point of an endowed chair is that the donor doesn't have to come back and give more money. It is all given beforehand.

    Mister Carr should be wary.

Mike has always supported charitable causes, fifteen or twenty years ago when I served the Reich I remember a bipartisan group of politicians and celebrities ranging from Rangle to McCain glad handling and I imagine collecting helpful donations and building buzz, while Mike collected chits.

It was obvious that Mike was very strategic. The CEO interviews were designed to provide entree for the sales guys. Charlie Rose got free studio time so that his big wigs and deep thinkers could see the wonders of the wall-less digital newsroom. The intern program was full of the children of the rich and well connected.

There's also been some (probably unspoken) quid pro quo. I remember Don King loudly proclaiming MB the greatest of all time. I seem to recall that when Mike was under pressure many of the arts groups that he supported turned out for him. Certainly, his decision to go from life long Democrat to generous supporter of the Republican party helped him secure the mayoral nomination.

    It's a relationship industry.

Nah. Too much personal suspicion driving the story on the writer's part instead of the facts.
