Since dropping things from drones is only American if you're killing people with them, so tobacco should be okay.

I know right? I was half expecting to hear there was a candy bar, soft toilet paper, and tic tacs.

The guy operating the drone could face more time than a convicted man-slaughterer.

Next time, just use the robot to attack/distract a guard and throw the smokes over the fence on the other side of the compound.

I know it's prison, but is there a great reason not to let prisoners smoke?

Plus cigarettes can be used to start fires.

Twenty years for a legal substance? That's completely ridiculous.

You could shoot someone and not serve that kind of time.

Not a "legal substance" inside prison walls. They weren't charged with possession - They were charged with sneaking something not allowed in prison into a prison.

But yeah. 20 years would still be super harsh - Though that's the max so it's unlikely that's what they'll get.

20 years for being too dumb use a big enough drone do it all in one pass. Also for not pre programming it with GPS and getting the fuck out of dodge. This is a pretty solid plan but sooooo poorly executed.

Technically, they didn't actually cross the gate; the drone did.

Hope they have (or can get) a good lawyer.

Technically STFU. Throwing, tennis raquet hitting, slingshotting all used before and charged with crime.
