I finally understand those pitch books. When I was a temp, I made copies of them and used the binding machine then sent them out to people with money, I guess. So that's what these guys do? Write books? I know, I know. Don't waste your time responding, they do more than that. They plug numbers in a program, get numbers from ledgers, yeah, yeah, yeah.

The pitch book is used to solicit or pitch their services to a prospective client. Either the client approached them or they are going out and telling a client that they are missing an opportunity to do such and such. If they get the work then then crunch their numbers and put together a roadshow to sell what they have crunched on behalf of their clients to those rich people or, more likely, institutional investors. Or at least that is how it seemed to me when I worked at one of the big investment banks.

If he wasn't killed by knockout then how will our country's surplus of chickenshit bigots find a forum for their unhinged racist ramblings tonight?

That's sad. Not only is it hard right now to get a job and/or keep a job, but just the job itself will kill you. So young. Poor dude.

You could say this young dude was carrying the news of stress and the importance of taking a break when needed.

All I'm saying is, when I was in school and interning, I was not under nearly as much pressure as this dude. It's just sad he worked his ass off, during this economic crisis, hoping to land his dream job. Whether it's true or not, Merrill Lynch said they were going to offer him a job if/and when he graduated, so I guess I just feel extra sorry for this working stiff.

i had fatigue-induced seizures a couple of times as a teenager and young adult, though i was never diagnosed as epileptic. it's scary, and not hard to imagine how this could have played out in a high-pressure job.

If he was a student and working a high pressure job, I can only imagine the amount of stress coursing through his system. My body freaks out if I get stressed. I had to learn to listen to it. You have to have a good work-life balance. It's very important. I learned that the hard way. I hope you have found that for yourself.

I'm epileptic and an a fairly high pressure job with a major US insurance company, it was definitely weird at first cause the stress was making me seize a lot (like 20-30 a day), but after a while things died back down to normal levels. Really strange to die from a seizure though, normally most seizure related deaths are drownings and whatnot.

EDIT: Just read that he was found in the shower, guess he fell or whatnot. Fucking shame...

This doesn't surprise me unfortunately. I was a "PMD" at Merrill, which is the name of their intern program, for about 2 1/2 years. I don't know how many nights I spent at the office and ended up falling asleep at my desk after pulling 14-15 hour days trying to develop my market, cold call, and keep up with the business. As a young guy, the stress can get to you as a result of everyone telling you that no none will respect you due to your youth so you need to be the smartest guy in the room just to get a chance to sit down with someone. They have monthly goals could get difficult as you progressed and if you slip up 1 month, you're on probation and if it happens again the next month, you're out. Very difficult business to penetrate and hard to do starting out with Merrill as now you only get paid on $250,000 accounts or more. Bring in a $249,000 account....pat on the back but no commission. If you come in with a book already established though, it can be VERY lucrative. Sad story to read...
