                When you legally marry in this country, you split your assets. That doesn't mean she EARNED it, but he's probably hoping he can get the divorced finalized before he dies and she gets EVERYTHING. She has leverage, and that leverage is the fact that he's 82 and she will almost certainly outlive him.

                I mean philosophically. These laws are paternalistic and stupid. Give her some money so she stays on her feet, sure, but a $44,000,000 apartment (don't get me started on Tiger Woods) is insane in 2013, and she's already got an extremely well paying job.

              They have a kid, too. That always ensures a huge payout in a divorce. I can't think of anyplace I would rather live than in a $44M penthouse in NYC. But, no. I simply. could. not. Not him. Just, no. Not even if I were *guaranteed* a $44M penthouse in 5 years or whatever.
