    Ya, he's a clown and he's an inarticulate and pitiable, fallible every-man. But also, fuck this fucking idiot, and his slightly smarter but more punchable idiot brother even harder.

    If a regular person, a person of color, a poor person, jesus- any non-politician person, were witnessed over 100 times by police surveillance meeting with known drug dealers, they'd be pulled over on the way home. Actually, they'd be searched/arrested the first Goddamned time.

    Ford is a guy who has actively fought against harm reduction programs for the city's addicts based on the idea that treating addiction like a mental health problem instead of a criminal problem is 'giving hugs to thugs'. Well, here is a thug asking for a hung if i've ever fucking heard one.

        Besides from the constant embarrassment for Toronto he is actually a good mayor, he just balanced the books and for the first time in years they aren't in the red anymore buy looking into the books and cutting the public waste

        Metro Toronto (the actual city) was amalgamated into "The City of Toronto" in 1998 by Harris as a cost cutting measure. The city got an assload of suburbs tacked on to it, and has been slowly buckling under the increased infrastructure strain ever since.
        The "balanced the books" drivel is nonsense. He came into office with a surplus, despite what his campaign suggested. He slashed services that were used people in the city-proper, cut the car tax which was supported by people in the city (and loathed by suburbanites who mostly commute into Toronto) and swore up and down that he'll fight a commuter tax (which is sorely needed, and in place in most comparable major cities), so again the suburbs love him.
        Since 98, there's been growing tension between the conservative suburbs and the actual original city of Toronto, and our shitty mayors (google Mel Lastman) have been a direct result of that. The people living on the periphery have a lot less vested interest in the success of Old Toronto than the people who actually live there, and basically just care about paying fewer taxes, since they are less densely populated and thus don't require the same level of services as the core. Unfortunately, save for a drastic re-drawing of districts or the de-amalgamation of the city, wee're going to keep getting disaster after disaster. This election map says a lot.

            Don't be silly. Rob Ford is a Godsend for Canada. Rob Ford is finally bringing us the American media attention we so desperately crave, and in spades. Plus, it's great for Toronto crack den tourism. I bet before Ford, most people probably didn't even know you could get crack in Toronto!
