Is anyone actually surprised? What are the laws in Canada for elected officials charged or convicted of a crime? In Indiana a felony conviction removes you from office. Here's hoping he quickly resigns and saves everyone the trouble.

Ford will resign when hell freezes over. Deny til you Die seems to be the Ford motto. He'll have to be dragged from office like a beached whale back to the sea.

No such thing as being removed from the mayor's office even if you are convicted. You have to miss a certain number of meetings first, and I'm not even sure it's automatic. Theoretically, if you go to jail, you will miss a certain number of meetings. He would just try and get a lot of day passes and show up with the giant Mayor medal on, brazen-like.

Police chief Bill Blair is disappointed.
Because what? Because he chose not to believe what became commonplace knowledge but now he can't pretend anymore?

I think he means that he has known for a long time about this, and he has thus been disappointed for a long time. Or, he's disappointed it was released by court order and not on LiveLeak.

I know this website is heavy on the police haters but I really like Chief Blair. He is open, straightforward and truly hates crime with a passion and wont put up with officers who commit crimes themselves.

No it wont. As somebody who lived downtown during the G20 I have far more hatred for the protesters than the police.
