I know this is not the point of the post, but I am always so disappointed in how boring Team USAs uniforms are in comparison to some other countries.

I actually find the outfits classy and elegent. Our money though, is super boring compared to all the colorful paper in foreign countries.

What kind of flashy design screams American, though? Boring coats and pants are kind of us, no?

I only WISH more clothes were made in the USA, because the quality would have to be better and companies wouldn't be able to use child labor/exploit workers.

JCrew sucks now. They used to have classic, quality clothes with fair prices (e.g. you really get what you pay for), but now it's like $400 for a cashmere sweater. Ridiculous. The worst part they still push that image of "quality" when their stuff is in fact, shit for what you're paying.

I'm no prude, but man, Jezebel's use of the word "fucking" in every other article title strikes me as, well, unoriginal and boring. You guys are writers. Shouldn't you be using a more extensive vocabulary??

Edit: I realize "fucking" is not actually in the title of this article, but it came upon my Facebook newsfeed and the description of the article read: "Brands are so used to getting cheap clothing made overseas that it was apparently a challenge to get a fucking peacoat made here in the States." But there are plenty of actual articles that are overridden with curse words in both the content and title sections. It be lame.

I agree. I noticed this in a Gawker article today (the one about Goldman Sachs). There was a curse word in almost every sentence. I'm a huge fan of curse words, they're fantastic! But they're more effective when used sparingly.

I have to say that this sort of thing always makes me feel a little uncomfortable, to be honest. While I recognize that plenty of overseas governments allow for terrible working conditions that lead to 'sweatshops' and the like, those are also still the best jobs available for people who are simply in the same place with working conditions as the United States was in the late 19th century.

Would the United States have been better off if people had done everything they could to pull manufacturing jobs away from us as soon as the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire occurred, or was it better that we had the jobs so that we could have a chance to start unionization and improving conditions? Are American jobs more important than jobs overseas?

I suppose it could just be a knee-jerk reaction against jingoism, but it keeps me from being super excited about American manufacturing.

I think I'll be okay with this occasion, just because U.S. clothes manufacturing for the Olympics is no way going to surpass the overseas production. But you're right; sometimes I find it frustrating how people rally for closing of U.S. companies overseas (not advocating for better working conditions, just to make that clear) when people's working conditions would have been horrible at their local factories or mines.

British Peacoat, nordic sweater and huge Polo logo. Why for the love of god can't we get a decent uniform. At least they made the logo sightly smaller than 2010

Woo! So glad that despite the challenges they kept the manufacturing here. More companies need to do this (and be supported by us american buyers) so it will not be so hard to make this happen in the future.

And I love the coats and sweaters, I would so wear that.

Damn!!! I would definitely kill a couple of ice skaters to get my hands on one of those peacoats!!! I could do without the over sized lapel logo. But I'm sure Mr. Lauren needs a new mansion somewhere; so I could forgive myself for being his brand whore.

Now, now... you just need a pipe and they'll give you whatever it is that you want. (Might want to bring duct tape, though, because their cry when you whack their knee is ear splitting.)

Um, AP? That's a MOOSE, not a reindeer. It's not a Christmas sweater. Moose are native to the US, reindeer are not.

Updated: Okay, I just read that caribou, which can be found in Alaska, are the same species as the European/Asian reindeer. But still. That's a moose.

Caribou == reindeer. They are also within the continental US. The animal on display is of Rangifer tarandus. You can tell because most American companies incorrectly use proportionally inaccurate horn vs body percentages. Reindeer males have the largest antler to body ratio of any currently existing deer species.
