So is this Barney's thing a lone pair of employees being assholes, or did the company not respond appropriately? Because if it is the former, I have to agree with Jayz. You can't always tell who is going to be a stupid racist and ignore company policy when you hire them. All you can really ask of a company is to act swiftly to get rid of them and remind employees that this shit will not be tolerated. If the company doesn't respond, this may be grounds for avoiding them in the future. I can't deduce what's going on in this particular situation.

As someone who has worked retail, it's def the higher ups, because honestly the sales associates couldn't give less of a fuck about who is buying shit. The pressure to racially profile always comes from management and corporate.

What? That must be greatly dependent on the store. I worked retail for a while, and no one ever told me to racially profile anyone.

I'd say Jay Z is the greediest motherfucker on the planet, but he hasn't come out as a Republican.

    Yet.

      Yes!

He has more money than God, so the idea that this is somehow motivated by concern funds that would be lost for his charity (which he could easily donate from his personal bank account without even making a dent) says to me this is purely about making money. This is the same man who had the nerve to get offended when Harry Belafonte accused him of having no social responsibility.

      Dafuq outta here.

To all the people who holler "You hate Chris Brown because racism! Why aren't you talking about [various white guys]!":

Because they don't KEEP DOING THIS SHIT. He is an unrepentant, violent-tantrum-throwing piece of shit who is never going to change, because he doesn't think he needs to. Four years in jail ... might help. It would be a start, at least, and we wouldn't have to read about him having his tantrums every couple of weeks.

Chris Brown is portrayed as evil and the worst person alive in the media. On the flip side Lindsey Lohan has always been portrayed as messed up but needing help. Amanda Bynes is portrayed as hilariously mentally ill and just needs some help. It's not fact that Chris Brown keeps doing stuff that puts him in the news that's racist, but the way that he is being portrayed.

To be fair, Chris Brown hasn't started a fire in some random person's driveway, that I'm aware. The behaviors Bynes exhibits are greatly different from Brown's. Similarly, Lohan has had a very public series of rehab stints, and her substance abuse problems are pretty common knowledge. I can't recall seeing pictures of Brown doing cocaine, and he seems to have less problems with DUIs and more problems with randomly hitting people. Combine that with Lohan's minimal effort to at least present a penitent front and the fact that she completed her public service sentence, people see her as more willing to make amends. Her failures are seen as those of a struggling addict, whereas Brown doesn't want to present himself that way. Brown likes to insist that no one ask him about struggles to overcome his past. Lohan knows that talking about those issues are the only way to maintain even a moderately sympathetic view in the media coverage.

Also, Joss Whedon's no fool. He built all his previous shows in no small part by catering to women's sexual urges. Now get Captain America's shirt off for me, Joss.

He is shirtless in the first movie. Unfortunately, when Hayley Atwell touched his man-boob (pec), the Foley guy failed to put in the requisite doorbell-ringing sound, which really completed the scene for me.

I am going to go rewatch the first movie now, to refresh my memory.

I still wouldn't mind another shirtless scene in the sequel. I mean, Thor was shirtless in his first movie, too. Which is, like, the only scene I remember from that movie.

I just roll my eyes at black people who expect shit from Jay-Z. Jay- Z likes money above all things. The president of Barneys could come out tomorrow and say " fuck all these blackies and I don't want their dirty dark skin in my store, because they are criminals and savages" and Jay Z would call his accountant and say " Hey, did my check from Barney's bounce? No? Well alright then. I don't see a problem here." Harry Belafonte and Jay's critics are right about him. You'll notice that the black entertainers who actually care about black people are not mainstream and beloved by whites, and there's a reason for that.

      He's not a business man. He's a business, man.

Co-signed. He's just another capitalist who kicked away the ladder after he got to his preferred floor.

Christina Ricci's husband, according to the linked article, is named James Heerdegen, not Casper.

I've never been a fan of Doug's overwrought, thesaurus addicted writing style, but sheesh. At least get the easy facts right (I know, I know. "Facts" aren't Doug's thing).

How about put some of your mega millions towards it then?

Did anyone stop to think that maybe Jay-z can't get out of his contract with Barney's yet? Maybe if the instances are proven (and there is little doubt in my mind that they will be) then he would have sufficient ground to terminate the contract but until then, he has to wait? I realize he would have enough money to pay off the contract or buy out of it, but I, personally, wouldn't want to get into a legal battle, if I knew I could get away cleanly once the accusations were proven. This might not be the case at all, and I could have just made all that up, but it could be.

Most of the anger is that he took so long to speak on this issue and when he did, made it all about JayZ.
