I was sexually harassed by a same-sex coworker. She was constantly talking about super personal details that made me incredibly uncomfortable and made working with her very difficult. I reported it but the HR person didn't think what was happening was inappropriate. The entire place was insane. So very glad I don't work there anymore.

This right here illustrates how our society cannot grasp that sexual harassment isn't about sexual attraction.

They probably think that just as "boys will be boys", all women use each other as emotional Kleenexes at all times, regardless of their actual relationship to each other or knowing the difference between personal and professional ties.

My friend's boss invited her to a dildo-selling party her first week of work. AWK-WARD.

“It illustrates the basic premise that sex harassment is about power, not sex.”

    Holy crap, YES!

ETA- Now that I got my gut reaction off my chest, let me also say I'm so glad someone is putting this out there. I hate how often you hear people say that sexual harassment is the natural result of a woman being attractive, and that she should consider it a compliment (or alternatively, that 'unattractive' women should be grateful for the attention). It has nothing to do with attraction. It has everything to do with grinding someone down beneath you using the easiest tool at your disposal.

:) Thanks. I've given up trying to understand the reasons behind the gray/not gray divide.

Oh good, another story I can link to when cis feminists say they worry about trans women invading their spaces and dominating everything with their "male energy."

I was unaware cis feminists made that claim. Yet another opportunity to learn that being an asshole is not gender specific.
