With every post about a man looking for the perfect (AKA made up in their own mind) wife online or elsewhere, my views on marriage becomes more and more like this:

Reading about anyone's search for the perfect significant other is bad. Like when reading women's dating website profiles where they want a 6'8'' man who makes 200k a year who can cook, clean, and does romantic things every 15 minutes.

      These people are nuts.

I find it difficult to believe that submissive women are hard to find in Utah.

And has anyone actually met a Ukrainian woman? I have Ukrainian women friends and no one would ever call them submissive.

I am a Ukrainian woman, and I don't know a single submissive one, myself included.

This guy is in for one helluva surprise.

I hate to be awful, but it's "harboring anger", not" harnessing anger".

Anyway, I know a rich white dude who went this route. And I mean RICH!! He was smart, funny and boooooyyy did he hate his mother! He had been married for like 20 years to his first wife, and he hated her too. Loved his 2 daughters, but was an awful father, what with the hatred of women and all.

First he went for Asian women, because they are his fetish, but when all he could find were brilliant bio-chemists, he soon set his sights on Russian women. Actually traveled to Moscow when he found one, got mugged outside his hotel, but returned in triumph with an appropriately submissive woman, who brought with her to NYC a daughter and all her cooking pots. Then she and the daughter headed for Bloomingdales and wouldn't stop shopping or something, according to him. In any case she didn't conform to his fantasy, so he returned her. I hope she knows how lucky she is..I sponsored the guy in AA temporarily, even though I am female, and he promptly began to act out all his mother issues with me. What a vicious little worm he was.

      He... returned her?

Anywhooo, I think you sort of hit the nail on the head.. there really does seem to be an overlap of guys who hate there mothers and guys who have crazy issues with demonizing women. To be fair, women who hate their dads make fucked up choices too.

Sometimes it blows my mind how correct Freud was about stuff.

Men who complain of women "harboring 'a fair amount of bitterness and anger' towards men" are always the last to realise that the women they meet may be resentful of them because they are horrible human beings.

Far from them to do the maths; much easier to blame an entire gender.

The men who complain about stuff like that often seem to harbor a whole lot of resentment and anger towards women themselves. Especially if the women in question want to be treated like actual human beings, rather than a herd of docile lady-cattle who serve the sole purpose of molding themselves into whatever this guy wants them to be.

Yes, but wouldn't it be hilarious if he studied Russian diligently, only to learn they still can't have a conversation?

      Worthy of sit-coms.

Anyway, regardless of how happy they seem, the fact that he needed to look abroad because he has a problem with an entire nation of women - a big nation with diverse people - doesn't speak well of him.

I don't really know much about the mail order brides business though, I'm just guessing based on general ideas of gendered relationships, etc. I know marrying Americans for a green card was popular here in the early 90s but I was a child then. Now people apply for green cards directly and most get them (at least the ones I know have got theirs).

I wonder how that six year old feels about it. Or, I guess, will feel about it, once she's older, and understands the implications behind things like Russian Mail-Order bride stereotypes and such.
