          I'm a firefighter and I've done my share of pulling animals out of homes who didn't survive. I'm sitting here watching this feeling hopeful and then I'm sitting here crying and grateful that I'm home alone so no one can witness my weakness.

            I've always thought that the sorts of people who get emotional about things like this (when it's not an emergency) make better firefighters/police/EMTs etc. than people who turn off their feelings all the time.
