To the contrary, you should urge them to continue documenting their crimes on social media. What, is Gawker pro-crime?

I heartily agree. Save us all some time and effort and brag away.

I once worked with a young woman who would post pictures of the drugs she had to sell on instagram. Like most who brag like this online she was extremely ill-equipped to actually live and thrive in this world; at twenty-two this was her first job (dishwasher), and she had little understanding that work is that, work...often thankless and boring but it pays the rent. I sometimes see her still, out and about the neighborhood, and I can't help but wonder who she'd be on OITNB.

How about "Please keep bragging about your crimes" so criminals can be charged with their crimes? Ugh.

To some extent it makes alot of sense: these people have immensely insecure lives with very little to show except some social status as a thug. It's to be expected that they'll brag and overcompensate.

I mean think of old tattoo culture among bikers and organized crime: not exactly subtle.

Precisely. We have this kid who just started at work who we're training. We were talking about him (since he isn't doing very well, isn't improving and at times has a very bad attitude, we are considering getting rid of him.).

I was pointing out that, as a bleeding heart woman(lol), I wanted to give him another chance. It takes one to know one, but the kid has some huge self-esteem issues and I worry he has a bad home life. It would be good for him on a personal level to spend more time around the responsible older guys in the kitchen. He isn't doing well, but he is very concerned with how he is doing and seems to really care what I think of his performance.

The guys disagree, they are tired of him bragging about drugs and stupid gangster crap. Apparently he was going with baseball bats with his friends to go 'get' someone who tried to steal his hat one time? I was kind of surprised to hear these stories, because he doesn't try to show off in front of me, then again, I'm not a dude. I have no masculine security to offer him in return.

Interesting that I get the insecure, obviously sad and hurt little boy who desperately needs validation to work with and they work with the hard-ass thug wanna-be. They are the same person.

The point of the story is that this kid is the very epitome of insecure hurting young braggart. I'm sure a lot of these kids are literally dying for some social status.

I don't mind really. If we're lucky, stupid criminals Darwin themselves out of the gene pool pretty quick.
