And that guy wonders why he's homeless.

Obviously, he can't see an opportunity when it comes up and bites him on the ass.

About 20 years ago- well, long story short- meet a girl one thing leads to another I've got, like, pounds of cocaine- boom! Drive from Detroit to L.A with a quickness, met a movie producer- things get crazy and don't really work out but if it weren't for that I wouldn't live in a sweet house by the beach in Mexico with my wife and our kid is, like, 20 or something.

Anyway- all I'm saying is that if a bunch of money or cocaine or whatever falls in your lap you really owe it to yourself to do something crazy reckless, you know?

Okay, I'm interested in this. As someone who has worked this sort of job, I don't think he would've have shown up for his shift if he had come into a windfall like this. The shift, the cash, and the passport are all working together somehow.
But wouldn't these phones more easily be stolen from their factories or in transit? Well, I guess at Best Buy there is only the store manager and mall cop to contend with.

My guess would be that there was $5000 cash in the backpack when it was turned over to police. Smart cops only steal some of the money.

Passport is actually People's Republic of China. Now, the cited articles don't actually say so, comments do identify it as china there, but the emblem is for People's Republic of China, not the Republic of China. Now, I think there's a Judean People's Front joke to be had here.

Well done, especially considering that sometimes police leave bait bags in conspicuous places to arrest people, at least in NYC.

No explanations have been offered as to why a Best Buy employee would be carrying over $40,000 to work, which is clearly where the real story is here.

Also, how the employee came to simply "lose" a bag filled with $2,400 in cash, $39,500 in traveler’s checks, and a Republic of China passport.
