I am so conflicted about Howard Stern. When he's good, he's very, very good. But when he's pandering to the lowest common denominator, I just roll my eyes and sigh because he has shown that he can be so much better. I understand his whole schtick, and have been listening to him for nearly 20 years, but sometimes the show is dismaying.

That said, I love the relationship that he has with Robin and the way they play off each other is brilliant. I hope she recovers quickly and continues to be well.

I've been listening to him for years and years. I do think, though, that he's matured A LOT over the years, no? He's also the only judge on AGT that matters.

Also, his and Robin's love makes me feel like my heart is choking me with love and tears.

I used to hate him, but I'd never listened to his show. I just hated the idea of him. But then I met my husband who has been listening to Howard since about 1990. He LOVES him. And I started listening more. I'm with you. There are times when he's really great and I appreciate all he does with his wife with animals and I think he really truly has a good heart. But then they do those stupid stunts and I have to turn it off. I'm not the target audience, I understand. But it does bother me because, like you, I know he can be better.

In response to Jimmy Kimmel's announcement that "Worst Twerk Fail EVER - Girl Catches Fire" was staged, Sandor Clegane aka The Hound released the following statement,

"That this particular video was a stunt by the very funny Jimmy Kimmel does not negate the importance fire safety. Remember that twerking near open flames can be a matter of life or death. If you do twerk, please use flameless candles. Moreover, it is of the utmost importance that small children not be left alone with braziers and their psychopath older brothers."

Wow, he is a lot less maimed by fire than I imagine him when reading the books (I am putting off watching the show until finishing the books). Maybe I have an overactive imagination?

Well, I'm glad the twerking video was a prank, I suppose. My fiance showed it to me last week and it upset me greatly, I think due to just massive fear of fire. Seriously, I found it absolutely terrifying and depressing and not funny it all, which makes me fear my funny is broken.

It disturbed me as well. But then again, I don't usually find those "LOL someone got hurt!" videos funny. I just feel really sorry for the person :-/

Yeah, same here. I don't like pranks in general I think, or "lol they fell down the stairs". I always think what if it was me, or someone I cared about, or whatever. Damned empathy, always getting in the way.

me too...it's like the VHS cover of a season of Miami Vice-if they ever put Miami Vice on VHS.

Now I'm wondering if old shows came out on tape so you could binge on them at home. This comment has taken a turn.

Pop quiz: Vanessa Hudgens wants you to know she is A) Human. B) Dancer. [NYDN]

Holy shit. I haven't laughed so hard since you mixed JBiebs with Edgar Allan Poe, Anna. I think I might be in love with you.

Also, on the subject of Vanessa Hudgens: Has anyone seen that terrible movie she did with Alex Pettyfer, Beastly? Let's talk about how terrible it is because I just saw it and I really can't get over it.

I watched that movie on an airplane a few years ago. It was so bad, but not so bad that it became fun. It mostly felt awkward the whole time. But Mary Kate Olsen was great as that weird, gothy witch.

“I went through a long process with it, I wanted to really understand what it was all about before signing on and feel sure because he is such a beloved character" - Charlie Hunnam (emphasis mine)

As evidenced by his above quote - he definitely hasn't cracked open that book. Poor guy, I can't help feeling sorry for him but it's his decision to do this.

R.I.P. Cal Worthington . . . and his dog, Spot. Did anyone else watch the commercials as a kid and think that the "Go see Cal, go see Cal, go see Cal" tagline was "pussy cow?" Just me then?

It is so wildly hilarious and sad. It's so true. She was really known for her waifish body type when she was doing the teen romance movie thing. And her quasi-sincere-apologetic stance is just...priceless. "Sorry, I was hungry, and I ate stuff, and I don't really feel bad about it." Amazing. It just frames this whole rigid Hollywood beauty standard in such a human way.

Good grief, Selma Blair really can't win given that just last year, she was getting concern-trolled for being too thin (I recall some *scary skinny* ribcage photos popping up on gossip sites, including Dirt Bag). At any rate, she looked fine and healthy at New York Fashion Week and I hope she's not *over-thinking* her eating habits.

P.S. Here's a link to a wellness blog that singled out Perez Hilton for having called out Selma Blair regarding her weight. Perez wasn't the only offender but he sure does set himself up as target, hypocrisy- and mean-spiritedness-wise.

Yes, Perez and others are always genuinely concerned about the health of actresses! Never any other motives in play there. Nope!

I've never bought into Perez's claim to have turned over a new leaf — as a human being, let alone a gossipmonger — and I doubt I ever will. Besides, even if he was being sincere when he went public about changing his bullying ways, he hasn't shown much consistency w/r/t honouring his pledge.
